Preflop: Hero is SB with 8♥, 8♣
4 folds, CO calls $0,02, BU folds, Hero calls $0,01, BB checks.

Flop: ($0,06) 7♠, 5♦, 4♠ (3 players)
Hero bets $0,06, BB folds, CO raises to $0,12, Hero calls $0,06.

Turn: ($0,30) 9♥ (2 players)
Hero bets $0,2, CO raises to $1,49 (All-In), Hero folds, CO gets uncalled bet back (All-In).

Final Pot: $0,70

I wanted to call, but the way he played it feels more like a straight or a set or even two pair.

I would raise pf for value with 88, but call is also fine
I guess your postflop play is fine, you can´t really b/c his turn overbet shove, since it is mostly for value. you can consider c/c his small turn and river bets, since then your 88 might easily be ahead, but if he pots it, then fold is better option
Pot is small and you don´t have hand that can stand a lot of heat
