I hate your c-bet size. 500 is so much better. Check flop behind also an option since opponent has nice reshipping stack if you bet 500. With that 800 c-betting size you borderline commit yourself in the pot.

His stack is too big, almost 2 psb.

Basically what I think of this spot is that stack sizes are too deep to bet/call, and bet600/fold (800 is toooooo much!) loses a lot of chips too often. You'll have tons of spots to accumulate chips with your big stack. So against this type of player and considering stack sizes I actually like the check behind idea.

FWIW, in future streets I'm likely calling a standard size bet on one street vs him even with AQ high unless board gets ugly.

my reasoning was i have to bet/call even if i cbet 500. im getting 2:1 with overs so im never bet/folding AQhigh against a fish who a) could have air and b) still have outs.

so i bet 800 to obviously commit myself. it wasnt like 'oh whoops im committed i guess i better call'. i sized it that way so i wouldnt talk myself into hero bet/folding 1/2 pot. but i guess check behind is probably better given hes rarely c/shoving much worse.

I don't like the idea of committing myself to the pot with 2 overs. I don't think he is bluffing you here.
So I would check behind very often, or cbet fold with a cbet of 500.
