Hero (BTN): 6,610
BB: 6,890

Pre-Flop: (650) K♠ 8♣ dealt to Hero (BTN)
Hero raises to 900, BB calls 500

Flop: (1,850) J♥ 5♠ T♠ (2 Players)
BB checks, Hero bets 1,000, BB calls 1,000

Turn: (3,850) A♠ (2 Players)
BB bets 2,000,

First of all I'm aware of HU nash.. but I think when effective stacks are about 15bb it's ok to minraise preflop instead of pushing directly..

Anyway, as the hand develops.. should I get it in on the turn or make the "nitty" fold? I mean zero fold equity and 1 card left..

Hi all,

I prefer limping here and shoving over a raise. Problem with minraising is that you have to play a wide range when you are in position, and if you play a wide range our villain can 3bet shove very very wide. Here with K8o if we just limp, it allows us to play more hands in position and we can be the one 3bet shoving preflop.

Now postflop this is an awful board to continuation bet. You have so little fold equity vs his preflop calling range and you're not a favourite against draws, especially as they can often put you into a tough turn decision. On the turn you get the best card for your hand... if you'd checked behind the flop you could now semibluffraise (and you rep a lot because I'd check back ace high on the flop too and raise the turn for protection). As played though we have to call 2000 for a pot of 7850 if we do call, with 3+9 outs to the nuts (~24% chance to hit). So folding isn't an option. Our analysis is then how often villain will fold to the remaining 1700. I think it's often enough, so I will just stick it in, hoping he calls with a hand like 98 or folds a 5x, Tx type hand. But this is partly why we can't just blindly continuation bet any flop
