[Closed] 89s from MP+2

fold preflop even with the blind poster in the CO. 89s is a good hand and depending on the players in the blinds/ on the button you can sometimes raise profitably from the CO... but usually folding is good.

at .05/.1 i expect that a) the players are to loose & passive and b) the rake is to high.

when players are loose & passive you are better off skewing your preflop range heavily towards value raises. when the rake is high you have to give up on the closest spots.

i think that (a) is a strong point against raising preflop, but even if its close (b) is the straw that breaks the camels back.

As played bet/folding the flop seems fine. you don't have enough showdown value to try and bluff catch against his draws and you aren't getting the correct odds to draw to what may be 2 outs against your opponents range.

This table was pretty tight (as a general rule, I'm finding that $0.02/$0.04 tables are call-fests whilst $0.05/$0.10 is a lot more cagey, particularly on Cake and Party), so I thought a suited-connector was worth a go - and I knew that a pre-flop raise would only induce either premium hands to raise, or the BB/SB to possibly call with a mediocre hand. (A re-raise would have meant a fold from me.)

Having said that, my post-flop play was very fishy. I should have B/F the flop, rather that B/C.

Thanks, also, about the pointer with regards to Rake - I never take this into account when I'm playing, so it's best that I do!

sometimes to raise with a suited connector on a very tight table is not a big mistake but i'd recommend to raise from a later position but preflop isn't that big of a mistake but postflop you can just draw to your backdoor draws and it's absolutely not worth to continue after the flop checkraise. you don't have more than 2 outs and even if the pot would be bigger on the flop it's an easy fold though.
