First of all: hi.

I'm a NL player (pretty successful till 400). Have played PLO last year occasionaly when I was a bit bored from NLHE (overall about 20k hands I think SH and HU). Right now I'm planning to completely switch to PLO. I have watched lots of vids already and think that my game is good enough to beat 100.

Anyways for the hand. Limper wasnt really fold happy so thats why I didnt isolate (pretty low foldtocbet) but I didnt wanna fold a suited ace for such cheap price (having the Ks isnt so good but still playable)

What is my line on flop? I didnt wanna check but I also didnt wanna bet because I was afraid of getting raised. I'm never in bad shape but still theres gotta be more +ev options. I opted to take a smaller betsize so I could call a raise more easily+still able to get money in if a spade hits. Both players were kinda fishy and pretty passive. Also because its a semi lockdown board (only 78 and spades can do something) I think i wont get raised tooo often. After he raises im pretty confident that he had the straight. I couldnt fold my nutfd yet altho im not sure if my implied odds are so great. On turn its easy with FH outs as well. But what on blank turns if we decide to call flop?

Fold preflop. You're not good enough to beat PLO $100 if you're limping on the button with A :spade:K :spade:92

Firstly, when you hit a flush, you're not getting paid off as you have both the nut and second nut flush covered. The 9 and the deuce are completely useless for your hand. So you're playing a 2 card hand in a 4 card game.

This is such an easy fold preflop that you will definitely struggle to adapt from holdem where AKs is a powerhouse.

Remember that PLO is not about winning hands, but about winning big pots. It's very hard to build a big pot and always be on the right side at showdown. A lot of the time when you flop a flush draw you will be 2-1 behind any made hand and when you hit it's hard to see someone paying off.

I really don't want to discuss how to play this hand post flop, because you should never have got to the flop with the hand.

You obviously can't fold on the turn because you spiked another 9, you may have 10 outs, you may have 6 or indeed if the flush draw is still live as many as 18 outs. But this tough decision where you're definitely behind but may or may not have odds to call is all down to your poor preflop hand selection.

Some things to make clear:

- This is a 100% first in open from the BU, right? I open almost every button when blinds arent complete maniacs/100VPIP fish. Especially when they are loose with high Foldcbet%.
- From my limited experience now winning small pots is very important because so many people dont attack limped pots + fold way too often to cbets. Ofc winning big pots is always important as well

Indeed this just be a fold preflop, I was just tempted because I was deeper ip against a really big whale who didnt really understand plo :f_biggrin:. My overall stats are 24/17/6
