so you are trying to get worse hands to fold? you want worse hands to continue and possibly bluff if they miss.
there is no such thing as a 'protection' bet. this is a misused term.
you can either bet for value, or as a bluff or as a semi-bluff. betting to 'protect' your hand by getting worse hands to fold is incorrect.
Here I wanted them to fold broadway cards like QJ, KT etc.
I thinks most possible cards in their range are T-K. And maybe suited connectors. So I wanted them to fold and not to improve on the turn.
Is it wrong?
it's too few outs to protect from even 3 way. By taking a c/f line it does not mean we give up on the hand, we can always stab a later street if there's no flop betting. And stabbing then would be more for value as well
