Camtasia also has a 30-day free trial so you can try before you but and it's fully functional

There are other options should you have used your license:

Camstudio allows you to record live but doesn't allow any fiddling/editing

ScreenCast-O-Matic allows you to record your screen and output it in many different file types

Generally recording your screen isn't expensive, it's the actual editting software which is pricey. You can probably use Windows Movie Maker to fiddle around a little if you have it but Camtasia is all round a better bet.
