$12 turbo MTT on pokerstars.

I think its a standard call preflop I don't want to have to deal with w 4-bet shove or play and its really early on so TT is still kinda a set mining hand for me.

Flop no set but its what I was hoping for I can't be sure my overpair isn't already dominated but at least I'm beating AK AQ type hands right now.

Is this a standard check raise spot? If so how what amount would you check raise to?

Or do you check call and re-evalute on turn maybe check folding to any A or K or hope for a cheap showdown.

I see a similar situation here but its a deepstack tourney so its a bit different.

overpair of TT on multiway pot

as played youre gonna end up playing for stacks , to 3bet flop you are commited to pot & not to bet you are going to let him hit any draw

prefer to 3bet preflop & bet flop , but being a turbo maybe good to try doubling up early

raise 650 call shove vs 1 villain, shove turn if u got called in 1 spot

1 exception if u raise to 650 and CO shove or call and then BTN shove or call i'll might check fold turn, even if CO just call and BTN fold i might just check fold turn

check-raise flop is fine i guess. I can confirm therebuz size of 650!
I don't really like the idea of check/raise-folding in that spot. You would turn your 10/10 into a bluff...

i was talking about check folding on turn some times if CO cold calls our c/r and club hit on turn, but that will suck cos we have T :club: although i dont think that if we hit a flush on river that we will have the bets hand (imo villain will very often have bigger flush then Thi and i think that he will shove all his sets on flop)

and i was talking that we can fold on flop a descend amount of time after we c/r if CO cold call BTN shove or CO shove BTN call

Thanks guys glad to hear the input I found myself in a similar situation with 99.
This early in the tournament what do you think about a check fold?
I think it's enough that I don't mind folding TT since the blinds are 10/20. I'm usually only really playing for set value having overpair to the board is tough though.

I don't think TT is good here too often, the only thing I'm beating is overcards but how likely is someone with overcards cbetting this flop so much.

Anywho I am relunctant to lay down overpairs especially since these tourneys run so often and I check raised but I felt I'd be comitted enough that I won't check raise fold so I just check raised all in and villain had JJ. Another similar situation occured again early on with 99 flopping overpair but check raise shoving into AA.

It was the 4th hand in the tourney, I think looking back and not trying to be results oriented but I think I should've leaned towards a fold, there is plenty of time to wait for a better spot.

4 folds, BJE POKER calls 20, RuOnCrack raises to 80, Hero calls 70, 1 fold, BJE POKER calls 60

Flop: 3♣ 8♦ 5♣ (260, 3 players)
Hero checks, BJE POKER checks, RuOnCrack bets 200, Hero raises to 540, BJE POKER folds, RuOnCrack calls 340

Turn: 9♣ (1,340, 2 players)
Hero goes all-in 860, RuOnCrack goes all-in 850

River: 8♥ (3,050, 2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: 3,050
RuOnCrack shows two pair, Jacks and Eights
J♣ J♥
Hero shows two pair, Tens and Eights
T♣ T♠

RuOnCrack wins 3,040 (net +1,570)

Hero collects 10 (net -1,470)
BJE POKER lost 80

And here is the 99 hand the tourney structure for the 99 hand was much slower so I think for sure I should've folded but I was fortunate enough to bink the river anyway.

I think a 3-bet preflop is good to get more information but I prefer to only do it when I'm in position. Out of position I still probably should 3-bet but we're not that deep and I don't know if I can safely fold to a 4-bet shove even though I'm crushed by villains 4-bet range.

There are several reasons why 3bet/folding for value can be bad (it's not necessarily bad in this situation always):

1 (this is why it is bad here): we want to play pots with CO (who is clearly bad). If we 3bet we isolate ourselves against BU's range a lot of the time. This isn't so great especially when we have a good multiway hand as well (pocketpair).

2: if villain is good he can 4bet a very polarised range in position and make us fold. If villain is good he's not going to call our 3bet very often anyway. So generally if I respect my opponent's poker ability at all I am either 3bet/getting it in or just calling preflop here.

thanks man yea I opted to just call it was so early I didn't have any reads and my plan was to get it in if it's an overpair to the flop or turn and if he has a higher overpair I was just gonna give it to him. Maybe if no flush draw was on the board I could've folded but the possibility that he could be shoving overcards with flush draw led me to call.
