Live tournament, still pretty early, £40 freeze out, 79 runners, down to 62
In the big blind with 4700
Blinds 50/100
One caller ( who has been playing pretty loose and has about the same stack as me)
I am holding Qs Js. I raise to 500 due to the wide range he has been playing, he calls.
Flop brings 10s 9h 8d
I bet 850 into a 1050 pot, he calls after some thought
Turn brings Jh
I bet 1800 and he calls instantly.
River brings Qh
I check, he checks. He shows a pair of 6's. Split pot. Aaaaahhhhhh

What should I have done differently

just a bad luck id say, this happens, but wierd call with very bottom pair, maybe he put you on AK and thought his pair is good, and checked the river after you, because maybe you made your broadway on the end.

He was playing crazy hands all night. Not sure if i should have shoved post flop or not

Shoving wouldnt be the greatest option in that case. Since you had the nuts, you had a possibility to slowplay or grind a lot of value out of him, but you just got unlucky that the straight came on board.

it's close but i think shipping the river is fine. if the river was an offsuit Q then you should ALWAYS ship that river, there are so few Kx hands in his range!
