Newbie here saying hi!
I'm a UK poker player who's been playing casually at the Casino against the house for small stakes and online for play money for several years and not doing terribly at either.
I play NL Texas Hold'em.
I don't remember exactly what it was that prompted me to google "Poker Strategy", probably one of the adds online combined with hitting my "100k pro" title on facebook then loosing it all to a stupid all in ![]()
Found this site, liked the tutorials and figured I'd see what this "Starting capital" is all about and I'll admit I was seriously wary.
However last night I got my $50 deposit, played a few games using the Short Stack Strat and after a few facepalm moments such as:
1) Using the Big Stack Hand chart...
2) Raising 4+2 big blinds when it was a "call 20"
I've started to get the hang of it and while yes it's slow going I'm making a pretty consistent profit when I do play and understand that at this point it's about learning not raking in cash ![]()
I admit i'm having trouble sticking to the strat 100% (I find it very hard not to call that $0.01 to top up my SB when I have a 44 or KTo etc when the system tells me to fold it...)
I have played real money online before (I don't recall the site) but stopped when I foolishly got home drunk one night and decided to have a game before bed and lost it all ![]()
I look forward to learning more and getting to be a better player and getting to know the community!
PS: Thanks to Pokerstrategy team for getting my pasion for poker back up and the amazing guides, I have no idea how you guys do this but hopefully one day when I'm a big player I'll be able to give something back ^_^.
