Hello! I'm not sure if its okay to post O8 hands here, so if its not please remove this(if it is okay, is NLO8 alright as well?).

In this hand I flop the nut low as well as the 2nd nut FD. My thinking was that as I already likely had the low locked up with a good shot at the high I should try to get the money in as fast as possible while I still have equity(I don't think this guy is going to be folding much given he seems quite fishy). Do you think a more passive approach would be better or is this line alright?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm a newb and I want to get the basics down. :f_biggrin:

IMO fold preflop. Bad straight draws, only 1 suite and OOP. Hand that has to hit perfectly to be good otherwise can't scoop and you will end up raking the site. Your hand is easily crushed since you have no backups. Should a 2 or 3 hit the board, you are probably dead. The hand with that flop would be many times better when played multiway COs range doesnt seem very wide. Minraise would probably mean the hands is good in multiway and doesn't want to scare others off. Probably an ace with good LOs.

Nice easy fold preflop, this is a garbage hand. As played you hit the only flop that is any good for you and you really have no alternative but to check raise this flop and hope you hit something for high. :f_biggrin:

If you had read my guide to PLO8 , specifically part 2, you would understand why this is a bad hand (namely it's super hard to win high and low, which is what you want to do with a O/8 hand).

I did read your guide and have been following it quite closely in FR games, but I was kind of unsure what adjustments should be made for SH as it seems to be much looser, and thus I have been experimenting with various stuff. Looking at it now I agree that I pretty much need to hit a dream flop to continue so I shouldn't be calling raises with this hand for sure, thanks again.

Since it seems alright to post O8 hands here I guess I will continue to do so as I continue my journey from clueless fish to O8 master. :f_cool:

you still need an ace+kicker usually if you don't have a big pair.
