Hey guys, thought it was about time to start a blog somewhere in order to monitor progress and set some tangible goals for myself. I will also hopefully be relaying some funny stories as they happen to me, be they bad beats, donk play by me or hilarious interactions from student life. (usually with the girlies)

I am a 24 year old Greek law student in London who's about to finish his course and do a year abroad in Slovenia, Maribor as an exchange student. I plan to use this year abroad to have an amazing time and also to give poker and currency trading a shot full time. If this fails, I will seek employment, probably as a lawyer or something in the financial sector: AKA slavery.

Long story short, I've been playing poker for a few years now, first getting into the game in some home games with the amazingly talented Mammuth and his family. I played online thereafter as well as at the casinos here in London. I first started playing seriously this summer on Full Tilt and Stars, playing 18 and 27 man SNG's and MTT's at the micro. This was fairly succesful but as whitelime recently said (and I concur) the micros in the big 2 are not worth the time and effort to beat due to tougher fields and high rake.

For this reason in January I decided to move my roll to PKR and took advantage of a reload bonus there as well. I had to play full time in February in order to get this bonus, playing mostly short handed NL 25 as well as HU NL 25 and some PLO 25. I was fairly succesful and at the end of a full time month I had made 1.600$ in cash games with rakeback + reload bonus. Unfortunately the only way for me to track my win rate is through Poker Officer which I decided not to purchase, but this is a sample of how I was doing while I still had the software.

Now with exams coming up I have started playing the heads up sit'n'gos at the site, turbo and regular 50$s.

I have been doing well in a small sample size and I am probably running a little below EV, but I still think I'm not realising my full potential. I'd like to increase my win rate and improve my game enough to feel comfortable playing the regs on Stars or FT.

So I guess that's where that leaves us, onward to bigger and better things!

Welcome in Slovenia! :)
And I am also playing HU SNGs like you. Maybe we can study together or coach. Send me your Skype or MSN on PM.

I'll be in Maribor in September _evil: Are there casinos there (with poker tables)?

Awesome. Well as I said in my introductory post, I want to set some concrete goals for the period between now and the end of the summer. I think I can sum them up:

1) Play 1.500 HUSNG's by the end of June to generate an indicative sample size

2) Dedicate 30-60 minutes per day to some form of studying of poker, be it hand history analysis, a video, sweat session, whatever.

3)Do some research on PLO and sources of income other than NL.

I do have my final exams coming up in late May which may cut into serious grinding time but it will be a good time to take a step back and consider overall approach and game theory.

My feelings about full time employment (been there, done that) ^^

So had had quite a bad night variance wise running well below EV at the HUSNG tables, although I did make some bad moves in two games after bad luck left me playing C game.

So after that I decided to play a baby tournament for 50$, and ended up shipping it for 1.000$, winning two dominated flips and then doing quite well at the final table, so I guess the variance evened out. _evil:

Not a mammoth score, but it's good to give me confidence in my MTT game and to pad my bankroll. So now my profits for the year are nearly 4.000$. Excellent timing too as I'm flying back to England from Greece in a few hours. _evil:

Maniac play at final 3: http://weaktight.com/3402699 It does look terrible but I went with my feel and timing tell on this guy who was very stab and done post flop.

So I spent a week in the Alps, skiing and partying with lots of Polska people (damn their girls are hot) in a little resort on the French side. A glimpse of next year's sickness perhaps??

Anyway today have to get back to the tables a little, giving opponents rope to hang themselves.

Well, wow. Today I logged in and decided to put in some volume before studying. And something amazing happened; I could not win a hand for a few hours. I'd heard from my friend about spells like this but had not witnessed one myself. In turno heads up SNG's you're forced to go all in quite a bit and I was constantly getting it in with big hands and losing in dominant situations.

I played about 25 games and lost 16 BI (800$), so I guess that means I'll be having to move down to the 30$s now. all this does is make the past two weeks break-even but I've been using my winnings to pay for bills so my BR had remained the same. It's not so much that it's affected my confidence in my play, but rather my confidence in the game when something like this can happen to undo weeks of hard work.
