another late phase 80k guarantee 31players left..
is J9o standard?
what should our push range be vs general opponents?
does the stack size make a diff? how should our range change? vs bigger stack? vs smaller stack?

j/9off with 13 bb here (not the best foldequity) is a fold for me!i suited push - off fold.
I push tight against shorter openraiser for example 15-18bb and push looser against bigger stacks 30+bb. Reason is -> smaller stacks normally should openraise tighter because they don't want to raise-fold with their stack (of course some players don't get that concept:) )
but how lose you push in that spot depends on a lot of stuff -> reads on opponents, timing tells, your image on the table and so on!

Hi thanks for the info. I do know reads and stuff chgs our play. But
Im this spot vs unknown what is the range tt u will push? Any pp, broadways, suited cons
And one gappers above 8hi?
I do understand ur rationale but there are also some big stacks who are less risk averse and willing to call off light to gain further chip lead since he has little to lose; likewise small stacks who open but fold more to resteals since they want to steal but dont want to risk their tourney life ?with ur experience, this grp of ppl are minority? Thks

I would say a lot of people don't pay attention to stack sizes and will open quite loose 20bb and then fold a lot - even though here from the BU his steals shud be pretty tight - however he will still be fairly wide most Ax,Kx,22+ and like a lot of Qx and Jx if he's good imo. When you steal with 20bb it is ofc best to do so with blockers to block the resteals - plus playability goes out the window its more so your "resteal callability".
.
J9o does crap against his calling range - like seeberger said I like it with J9s.

Here I think my range goes smth like JQo+, KTo+, K9s+, Q9s+, J9s+, A2-A5s, A9s+, ATo+, 89s+,22+

Not really willing to go any wider than this tbh. And im certainly not saying this is a good range - in fact would like other players to offer advice on their resteal ranges if they see this.

Also nice trick I use atm is using find players a lot on spots like this. Stars and FT u can do it in like 5secs now and it isnt much trouble to do it even 20tabing. This likely gives indication to how aware of stack sizes they are - but not reliable.

Also likely not gnna work that well here but sometimes like raising to 70k sometimes gives you more FE

@amplifyed: i do like the range u gave. yea left those Ax out. probably have too much SSS mentality => 20BB this range, 11BB looser range. yea noted that a awhile ago already, and getting more comfortable with lesser BB.

anyway if u are restealing A2-A5s, you would also resteal A6s+ since they have stronger or equal equity ?

an example

A2s vs a range that has no Ax below 7 and no PP below 7

Board:
       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    42.02%  40.68%   1.34% { A2s }
MP3    57.98%  56.64%   1.34% { 88+, ATs+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, ATo+, KJo+, QJo }

A7s vs a range that has no Ax below 7 and no PP below 7

Board:
       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    41.95%  40.67%   1.28% { A7s }
MP3    58.05%  56.77%   1.28% { 88+, ATs+, KTs+, QTs+, JTs, ATo+, KJo+, QJo }

the difference is so close but if we to allow him to call more PPs e.g. 55+, A7s is going to fare about 1% better than A2s. so if u are reshoving A2s, you should reshove all the AXs in this case?

no
a2s-a5s >> a7s-a9s cos a2-a5 can make str8

you r not pushing/restealing Ax hands for hand strength/value you r pushing Ax cos they have blockers to villain calling range,( for ex AT+,AA) when you have A in your hand you r decreasing combos for his calling Ax range 25%-28%) so if villains calling Ax range is AT+, AA ~5% range(70 hands combos) when you have A in your hand you r decreasing probability for villain to have 2cards combos of that range for 1/4 (51 2cards combos left) so you got called less often less often,
btw all this depend of how tight villain is opening first in to start with, if he is opening tight he dont have a lot of hands that he is going to fold

when you do get called your r actually never get called with worse hand then your A2-A9, (maybe sometimes villain will call you with 2 face cards and you r slightly ahead) and when villain calls you with worse AX then your AX very very often end up chopping,
but in reality when you got called when you shoved Ax you r basically crushed every time and you r drawing to 3 outs but when you have a2-a5 you have some str8combos too

but tbh if i'm shoving A2-A5 in your spot i'm probably pushing all AX+

@bonebt: can u pls take a look at the equilator's results against the range that i put and make a comment on that. whether it makes a straight or not doesn't explain the equity shown. thks

you know that in MTT chip gain and chip loose dont have same value so slightly bigger % of EQ doesn't make bigger change in long term (as they do in cash games) and you need to play hands in MTT that have some nuts combo when you put you live on line with ok stack

imo your calculation is wrong
-u r taking the worse hand from A2-A5 range (a2) vs medium hand in A6-a9 range (a7)
- and also imo u r giving way to loose calling range to villain after you resteal

note: i'm talking here about situations when you make shove from blinds/btn vs LP opener with effective stack size which is 6x-10x his open size, when you have big fold EQ and villain will call you fairly tight

So imo cal. should go like this

- if we give looser calling range you can see that a6-a9 have less then 0.5% eq more then a2-a5 do vs same range

Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 65.896 % 64.288 % 3.216 % 32.496 % 66+, ATs+, KJs+, ATo+, KQo
Player 2: 34.104 % 32.496 % 3.216 % 64.288 % A9s-A6s, A9o-A6o

Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 66.299 % 64.685 % 3.228 % 32.087 % 66+, ATs+, KJs+, ATo+, KQo
Player 2: 33.701 % 32.087 % 3.228 % 64.685 % A5s-A2s, A5o-A2o

----------------------------------------
- but the more we tighten villains calling range, you can see that a2-a5 perform better then a6-a9

Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 70.808 % 68.806 % 4.005 % 27.189 % 88+, ATs+, KQs, ATo+
Player 2: 29.192 % 27.189 % 4.005 % 68.806 % A9s-A6s, A9o-A6o

Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 70.187 % 68.150 % 4.073 % 27.777 % 88+, ATs+, KQs, ATo+
Player 2: 29.813 % 27.777 % 4.073 % 68.150 % A5s-A2s, A5o-A2o

----------------------------------------

Equity Win Tie Loss Hand
Player 1: 73.075 % 71.624 % 2.901 % 25.474 % TT+, AJs+, AQo+
Player 2: 26.925 % 25.474 % 2.901 % 71.624 % A9s-A6s, A9o-A6o
