So here's the story. I have two email addresses I regularly use, first one is my formal one with my name in it, usually I enter this one when registering on poker rooms, the other one is more for anonymous stuff, MSN and YouTube, I rarely use it for poker purposes. But today I got an email dropped in the latter inbox:

Hi xxx,

I have come across your contact info during one of my live poker sessions, and therefore am wondering if you would be interested in a rakeback deal? I have a couple clients who are ready to pay the right price, to have players playing under their trackers. Just let me know the kind of deal you might be interested in, and I can pick the right affiliate and the deal for you.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me and ask.

They forgot the last letter of my name, but it's pronounced the same so I imagine they somehow have at least that much of my personal info. The email address I got the email from is inquiries@smartbetmedia.com, so I decided to google the site with the same name. It's a single homepage with a logo image and the same email address mentioned, but no other pages, no links, no legal info.

So my questions are: has anyone else received the same email, can these guys be trusted (probably not) and how on Earth could they have gotten my (partial) name and contact info?

I got the same email, but mine specifically mentioned it was looking for moderators, bloggers, poker article writers and another specific type I fail to remember. The mail weirded me out as I very seldom use (but have on maybe a couple of occassions) my name in connection with this or other poker sites.

I deleted it immediately, but it was definitely more informed spam than normal.

And I have never used twitter, but do use facebook and have connected to PS.com through that - although, again, there is no connection between fb and my screen names.

"...and then I was like "?", and they were like "..." and then it all came down to the cheese making method. Needless to say
