I am playing SSS and my stack was $5 at the start of the hand.

I am wanting to know whether to conti-bet or c/f in this situation. According to the SSS, after the flop I have a trash hand and so must check and fold to a bet of my opponent.

Correct or not as a bronze level SSS player?

Poker Stars

Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is UTG with Q♣ Q♦
Hero raises to $1, 4 folds, Button calls, 2 folds.

Flop: A♠ 7♦ 8♥ ($2.35, 2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

Turn: 5♠ ($2.35, 2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $0.75, Hero folds.
Uncalled bets: $0.75 returned to Button.

Results:
Final pot: $2.35

you are heads up so bet about 2/3 pot and fold to a raise. if he calls c/f the turn ui or push if a Q hits

That is conflicting to the SSS. No wonder I am confused

mh no it´s not

trash hands: one opponent: "Your opponent did not bet: You bet about 2/3 of the pot."

Read that for the example of KK. The pot was nowhere near twice of my stack so I can't bet or move all-in.

I didnt have a made hand and I was first to act so of course my opponent hadn't bet yet. This isn't covered where your opponent has to act behind you.

I didnt have a made hand and I was first to act so of course my opponent hadn't bet yet.

So you have to bet...

The problem with your playing style is:

You hit the flop 35% of the times with a drawing hand.
You hit overcards on your pairs 50-100% of the time.

So if you raise, and check everytime you see a flop you don't like, two things happen:

1. you're giving away money. Your check will say: "if you bet, i'll fold".
2. you're too easy to read. Your bet will say: "give up, i have the best hand".

So plz. reread the articles, and reread them again, because im pretty sure pokerstrategy didn't invent the sss to let it's members give away their money. You're making fundamental mistakes, and you should reread and ask about specific articles you don't get (like the one you mentioned). And visit coachings, im sure it will help you A LOT to see an experienced shortstacker play for 90 minutes.

I can see what you are saying but hitting overcards 50%-100% is a gross exaggeration especially as your pairs become higher

a couple:

QQ: 41.429%
TT: 69.469%
88: 86.735%

So it's not an exaggeration...

Ok.

Sorry if I am getting a bit edgy but I am getting pretty frustrated

Thanks for your help

then it's best to stop playing now. I made a mistake today, so im watching simpsons the movie, since im not in best form atm. Go read articles or something if you still want to spend time on poker, but don't play when you are frustrated. I kinda saw the frustration on the 88 hand with the kka flop.

Listen to The Who, they make you a winner! Also I think it is good for you to (re)read all articles again Watto, especially the silver one about odds and outs.

havent read them yet. I want to get all the levels sorted first and then move up

From my experience it's a lot better to read as much as you can before playing, especially when you aren't really familiar with everything yet.
