ok people.. im happy to look like a total tit here but this has got me stumped.. WHAT am I missing in these two questions:

How many outs? Ex 1

Flop: 10:diamond:, 6♥, 2♠
Hero: A♦, K♦
Villan: A♠, 10:heart:
------------

My answer:
3 Kings (trips or higher pair)
4 jacks & 4 queens, (for straight)
10 diamonds - 1jack - 1queen - 1king = 7 (flush)
= 18 outs

...but thats incorrect?? WTF.. :(

How many outs? Ex 2

Flop: Q♦, 8♥, 3♣
Hero: J♥, 10:heart:
Villan: A♠, A♥
------------

My answer:
2 Jacks (trips)
2 10s (trips)
4 kings & 2 Aces, 4 9's (for straight)
9 hearts - 1king - 1 9 = 7 (flush)
= 21 outs

AGAIN wrong....

someone bash it into my thick skull what Im doing wrong. :( These Questions are from the PSO.com facebook quiz btw (I did it for a weekly $500 ticket)

cheers

Ex1
You need two cards in a raw to make a backdoor straight or flush so i don't think that you can consider them as outs each one alone.
I would say 5 outs for a flush (10/2), 3 for a straight (6/2) and 3 kings = 11 outs.
Even your way you got it wrong, it should be 8 outs for a straight and 8 outs for a flush (13d - 3 on game, -2 j+q = 8).

Ex2
Same as first
3 Jacks/2 = 1.5 outs for trip j
3 10s/2 = 1.5 for trip 10
9 Hearts/2 = 4.5 for flush
3 9s for straight
3 Kings/2 = 1.5
2 Aces/2 = 1 which totals 13 outs.

Thats what i would guess, i am not saying its the correct answer (and probably isn't :f_confused: ).
Interesting questions!

Pretty sure the answer is 3 Kings to the 1st one and 4 9's to the seconds one.

I dont think runner-runner outs count...
