Wanted to ask you some things as I`m playing cash right now..I have a small br but I want to switch to sng/mtt's cuz` I think there u can make much more money faster...or so I think.So..first question : what do think of sng/mtt as a way to build your bankroll faster...is it faster than cash?

Secondly I wanted to know what would you recommend me to play,sng/mtt,(I`m on stars) and what br would I need for it..I have a small br right now ~$200.

Some strategies? ♦..basic stuff .. insights..

The thing is I want to rise fast with sng'z and then when I have a decent br move back to cash.

I think at micro/small stakes MTT would build your bankroll faster than cash, but from what I understand, $200/hr is possible at NL400 so I think that once you get to the roll required for that, cash would give you a better hourly.

My hourly at current stakes is around $80-$100/hr which I don't think is near the top of the possible hourly for an MTT player, but at the same time I doubt $200/hr is possible over a decent sample size either. I could be wrong however.

With a $200 bankroll you may be able to start playing the $2.50 180 man's, but I'd be kinda hesitant. For what its worth, although its difficult to see in that graph, I had a 60BI downswing on my first day at the 180's, dropping around $150 before I started making a profit. I ended that day +$120 or so but its scary how fast you can lose money and how long you can run bad, and how much of a difference small leaks make to your ROI.

I would suggest starting at the $1 45/90 man's until you have at least $300, then switching over to $2.50 180's.

As for strategies/basic stuff, play extremely tight pre-ante, then shove super loose once ante's come into play. The most important thing to have in the 180 format is a complete absence of fear to get it in with a crap hand. I regularly shove hands like J5s from MP2, K6o from UTG, etc. etc. You will get into a lot of spots where you just need to get it in and hope your 5-7bb is enough fold equity to steal the blinds.

If you can find someone doing a staking/coaching deal for $2.50 180's I'd definitely go with that, if you just try to jump in without much of an idea of the ranges you are meant to be playing, you will probably find yourself busto.

I am also yet to find a single good video on 180 man's, so I wouldn't really bother trying to learn with those. Tigerbalm's were about as good as it got and even those showed way WAY too tight shoving ranges.

If I might pick your brain a bit, do you still advocate that loose shoving range in the 45/90's? What reshove range do you recommend? Do you use a HUD?

dochazard: I have to be honest, I've never seriously grinded the 45/90 mans so I honestly don't know the ranges so well there, but I'd expect that they would play identical to 180's up until the final table, where there would be a lot more ICM play involved.

shehanshah: I don't often come to pokerstrategy but I'm thinking of starting to post more now that I'm not the standard marginal winner that I used to be and actually have something to offer.

Reshove ranges are completely player dependant, vs regs I will iso quite loose compared to unknowns, how loose is dependant on the reg.

For example, vs nits like Ihaterivers, I'll be reshoving almost as tight as I would vs an unknown, but if its one of the crazier regs like lilbigkahuna or shen888(or myself, as I think I shove looser than both of these guys) I'll often times iso a 10bb shove with KT+

I just checked my VIP status, earned 26.5k VPP's this month, so on track to hit supernova in 1.5 months.

I too recently returned after a very long break from poker, I started off on PS a few years ago Cash SSS and BSS had some success was breaking even for months but eventually got really bored.

Anyhow long story short was playing a cash games at my regular casino mainly BSS and was destroying it, thanks PS for that hehe lots of practice paid off years before obviously my local casino is very weak. While I was playing a few months back I met a german pro, travelling the world playing poker loving life. He suggested I give the 45 mans or the 180's a try which I agreed showed best return for money etc for bankroll building.

Anyway for the past two and a half months I've been experimenting with 180's and 45's showing better results for the 45's at the moment, I still have more leaks at 180's so going to stick with the 45's for now then move up soon.

Just wanted to add its very possible I've red a few books on tourneys and I agree with OP's strategy, extremely tight pre-ante then aggressive post ante. Obviously it works alot better with turbo's I've done quite well playing sat's non turbos as well.

I just made a big reply and my computer crashed before I could post it, also sitting me out for about 5 minutes on 30 tables including 3 x 3r final tables I'll post what I remember, but may miss some stuff.

Dylan(whiterabbito) is a sicko, helpful guy and regularly makes big scores. He final tabled the sunday million a couple of weeks ago, coming 7th or so for 14k.

I'm not familiar with melbournejoe but I assume he is a 45man grinder.

Johndayton is a cool guy, he had to relocate as he is american, I think he's currently grinding 2's to rebuild his roll.

however if you really wanna see a top reg, take a look at jabracada, that guy has the best finish distribution I've ever seen, he's also a pretty nice guy and has some cool avatars.

I offer coaching myself, but I'm unsure as to the pokerstrategy policy on advertising so I won't say anything mroe than that I do it for free at the moment because I am more interested in learning to coach than making money from it right now.

sugalde: I can't currently do full sweat sessions as my internet connection cannot handle so many tables with teamviewer well, I am trying to set up a livestream though as a lot of my students have expressed the same interest.

Whats your monitor setup for the multitabling ? I've only been four tabling, looking to increase once I've got my game sorted.

if I'm playing less than 35 tables I can usually chat on skype or browse forums, if infrequently.

I use 2 monitors with 6 stacks on each monitor
On my left hand monitor, from left to right:

top row:
180 FO's from 10/20 to 100/200
180 FO's from 125/250 to 400/800
180 FO's from 500/1000 and onward

bottom row:
MS and HS MTT's generally stacked somewhat haphazardly.

on my right hand monitor from left to right:

Top row:
180 rebuys from 1500/3000 and onward
180 rebuys from 125/250 to 1000/2000
180 rebuys in rebuy period

Bottom row:
SS MTT's stacked randomly.
