Hello all, how are you? I'm well thanks for asking. Your hair smells great today. And you are a strong, confident woman who has no need to smoke!

I promise not to post every day but as this is the "new dawn" I felt I should mark it with some posting. Today has been excellent poker-wise... been fortunate to get some very meaty hands and some opponents that have been easy to read.

Time for some stats: 42.70 BB/hr for today resulting in a lovely +$9 profit. My bankroll is almost touching $50, which means a very quick move up the limits!

I don't know how many hands I've played today but I've played for 4 hours in total in shorter bursts, no session has been over 40 minutes at a time. Nor have I played at more than one table at a time. I want a solid skill base before I move towards multi-tabling.

Tomorrow I'm going to look over MTT strategy as in two weeks I have a new depositor freeroll and the better I do will be better for my young bankroll. I'll do some practice MTT competitions as well, so as I'm prepared when the big event comes on the 21st August.

I'll leave you on an embarrassing fact: I'm 20, and I have bunk beds! That gets bloody awkward. Especially if you're trying to bring a girl back. Worse still, if you forget to mention the bunk beds and the girl gets flirty and says: "Who's going to go on top?" Arrrgh! Take my advice, in the confusion never respond by saying: "Erm.... well, normally, I go on the bottom. But that's only because my brother prefers to go on top"

Had a triumph today as I won a game of strip poker, against myself! GET IN! ♦

I'm from Glasgow, living right next to Hampden... makes it an easy trip to watch Scotland beat Denmark, with like 4 other fans in total! ♠_evil:

I'm currently playing NL 0.02/0.05... however, I'm doing VERY well at this limit and hopefully will be moving up either tonight or tomorrow! I started with $8 and now am at $45. At 50 I get to play NL 0.05/0.10.

I'm using unbelievable tekkers Right now it's just me, a computer screen, paper and a pen!

Good afternoon ladies, gentlemen and hermaphrodites. Been a bit quiet on the blog front this past week purely because I've been a busy little bee. Been through in Edinburgh doing some stand-up gigs, and also had one in Glasgow in front of 350 people.... earned myself three separate applause breaks so have been feeling pretty happy with myself. I was also at the Scotland Denmark game last night to watch Scotland... win. England in turmoil and Scotland win, it's like the SNP's wet dream!

I've been thinking, the first Where's Wally books came out roughly 24 years ago. Does anyone else agree that it's about time he was just declared dead?

Poker-wise things have kept improving... I noticed a few mistakes, such as my "steal range" was too wide and not being tapered to my opponents or position. Also, I have a much better mindset... A few times I've went all-in with an excellent hand and suffered a bad beat... however, I just accepted this and went on to finish each session in profit.

For example, I've had by KK busted by AA, my AK busted by 55 and my QQ busted by KK but guess what? That's life. I've written these hands down, I'll analyse them and then post them for hand evaluation later tonight.

I'm improving and I want to keep improving.

SSS, which does get a bit infuriating when the all-in KK gets trumped by AA.

I'm sticking to the BRM as suggested by the basic articles.

Ladies and gentleman, I set myself the target of improving my game and try to increase my bankroll to $50 and recover the starting capital that I squandered two years ago.

11 days later, I have achieved it.... and then some!

I've played very well in some hands, and awful in others but through sheer perseverance and willingness to improve (as well as reading the basic and bronze articles over and over again), I'm very happy with my progress as a player. I've even moved for 6 max because I feel when you get a premium hand you get more people biting, and it is easier to assess opponents.

My worst "bad beat" was: Sitting with pocket QQ, I raised and was called.

He was a player who was aggressive, but silly. Several hand previously he went all in with Q7o. He raised, and I went all-in per the SSS. He called.

But using the sound knowledge I'd gained from here, I've been fishing very successfully here is the stats...

I'm not 100% happy with my game, I know my success is due to my opponents weakness and not neccessarily due to my quality. So I'm not moving up the limit yet even though I should. Instead, I'm moving to PartyPoker. I'm going to test myself against (hopefully) better opponents. I'm going to download Elephant and attempt to get used to their statistics at the lower limit before I move up to NL 0.05/0.10. Also, elephant will give me a better way to analyse my hands and hopefully plug the inevitable gaps before I move up.

Finally, there is 6 days until my Betfred Depositor $10,000 competition. I've been practicing on the $100 Poker Strategy freeroll, usually ending in the money (finished in the top 30 a few times.) Sadly, no final table appearances yet. But, today is another day... fingers crossed.

I've said a lot of crap in this... and not enough jokes.... but today I had my business head on. And to that end....

I just played the Betfred New Depositor $1K freeroll; I had been preparing for it all week and this was my first BIG MTT tournament.

Almost a thousand entered. I set myself some goals.

[X] Make the bubble
[X] Make the top 30
[X] Make the final table (My first one too)
[X] Make the top 6
[X] Make the top 3
[ ] Win....

I finished third, and won $100.

I'm very very happy... but a bit disappointed with how I went out. KK beaten by a 98o, which made a straight. But still.... I have one more ticket to play another tourney in 2 weeks!

My bankroll which was at $8 on August 1st... is now at $189

Not bad for 3 weeks work... ♠_cool:

Fellow glasgonian reporting in. You should download the elephant thing for tracking your play and the HUD is pretty good too for a free one. I might have seen you do some stand up. Are you ginger? Do you ever play any live poker?

Yeah, I've decided to move up and play some NL 0.05/0.10. I still feel I have some weaknesses, but I'm doing the BSS School to try and strengthen the weak spots!

Nah, I'm not ginger. I think you may be thinking of Ray Bradshaw...

I've played some live poker, with mates and stuff. No idea where there are any other live games. You know of anywhere dude? Also, when I play on partypoker I'm using elephant!

How do you find the competition on party poker? I was playing there but then moved to poker stars because it seemed I was always playing the same people every day. I've played at the riverboat gala casino twice and won pretty big but it was nl 200 I was playing. It's the lowest they have there but as most people are pretty drunk it is easy to win a lot. I was a bit nervous the first time but it is so much better playing live. You should give it a shot for sure. Bankroll permitting of course

hmmm.... that'll be a long term aim then. Right now I'm working up a bankroll, and doubt I could take the leap to NL 200 as things stand.

Yeah I should have bought in for £200 but I didn't want to blow loads of cash really quickly. So I only bought in for £60 and just watched for a while. I had been on a work night out so I had a few drinks as well but I watched the game for about an hour before I even sat down. Are you going to start playing BSS soon? I never played short stack but I think I might find it a little boring. Sounds like you are doing well with it though.

Well once my bankroll is healthy enough, I'll give it a go. I don't really drink that much so could make some excellent exploitation of drunk folks!

I'm wanting to play a mix of both SSS and BSS.

Buy in with $3 on a NL10 table (the minimum it allows) and play SSS until I have between $7-10 on the same table. Then I switch to BSS to try and take the rest of the money. I am much more advanced on SSS than I am on BSS. That's why I'm currently in the NL BSS Learning School right now!

I like the sound of your system from switching from one system to another. It should allow you to move up the limits faster and really help your game style
