Okay, this question was discussed by me and few phenomenal poker players I know in real life.
Is this a bad raise and call by Mr.NR1_Phil_Ivey?
Why I ask this question? My question is not if this is a good play in the long run.
I wanted to point out a miss-step from the best poker player in the world. I mean he could/should fold that. Maybe he had some tell on Mercier? But why then that dumb comment "You probably got me" which tells me he was convinced he was beaten. But why the call then? I mean he had to give 110k for a pot of 400k yeah but still he only committed 100k. Why give 100k more?
Obviously Jason Mercier was telling a great story, in my opinion he was making a brilliant play, was playing pretty solid/TAGish the whole night, like most of them did.
And then this hand came, he played it from the beginning like JJ+, saw the huge raise from Ivey and he still stick to his JJ+ play.
I would like to see few comments about this hand. As a live poker player I would like to see if anyone can change my opinion on this pretty doubtful play.
Just hit the link and the video will start from the hand the question is about. [27mins:55secs]
I am sorry if this hand was already discussed but I couldn't find it anywhere.
