Starting chips -5000
Blinds 500/1000

Villian (SB): 54921 54 BBs
Hero (BB): 12358 12 BBs

Pre Flop: Hero is BB with AQh
All players fold, SB min raises to 2k, Hero calls

Flop: (pot 4000) Jd Qs 8c (2 players)
Hero bets 2000, Villian goes all in, Hero calls

Turn: 9c

River: Td

Board Jd Qs 8c 9c Tc

Villian shows KJs

My read on the opponent was he would play about 20%

Was the calling pre flop the best play? I know that sub 13 BB its usually push or fold, however I was unsure of my hand until I flopped top pair top kicker on rainbow board.

Perhaps if I had shoved pre-flop he'd not have called. I was reluctant to shove versus such a big stack simply because I thought he'd call most hands on equity because even if losing he'd still be big stack comfortably, so I wanted to be sure on a hand before committing.

with less than 20bbs facing a raise your pre-flop decision is always shove or fold. with AQ its an easy shove pre-flop for value.

once you flop TPTK you are never folding this short.
