Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $1(BB) Replayer
SB ($37.23)
BB ($122)
UTG ($77.06)
UTG+1 ($117)
CO ($108)
Hero ($100)

Dealt to Hero 3♦ 3♣

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $3, fold, BB calls $2

FLOP ($6.50) J♠ 3♥ 7♦

BB checks, Hero bets $6, BB calls $6

TURN ($18.50) J♠ 3♥ 7♦ 2♣

BB checks, Hero bets $21,

Villain: 53/27 - 25 hands

What do you think about overbetting here to get maximum value from all Jx hands? Villan is a fish, and fish don't like folding so good spot or not to overbet?

Also, if you advocate overbetting here then I suppose you could even consider doing it on the flop as well since he most certainly wont fold a jack there too?

Thoughts?

If you overbet so small (compared to f.e. a $42 bet on the turn) imo it's better to bet exactly pot because in my experience when you bet exactly pot, fishes give you less credit for it and the aggro guys even try to rebluff sometimes.

Generally overbetting for value (even on the flop) is definitely possible, you have to try it a couple of times and see how they react - it's hard to predict because it's an unusual move.

Good points.

I've been experimenting with it for a little while now, but it has not yet been that succesful. It's usually these dry boards I do it on, trying to get maximum value from toppair hands. I always assume that fish wont fold their toppairs, at least not on the flop or turn, even against overbets, so that's why I usually target these board where villain basically only has some random floats (overcards or w/e), middle/bottompairs or toppairs.

By doing so I obviously miss value from potential middlepairs etc. but get the maximum from the toppairs, which I suppose should be the most superior move for maximum overall value?

Thoughts?

very good spot is on AXX boards, because when you second barrel people will put you on Ax anyway, so they fold their 2. pairs. Fishes just can't fold their top pair so u can get a lot more value from overbetting.

I think a standard 1/2, 2/3, 2/3 or pot river is nicer and allows us to be better balanced and fire multiple barrels more reguarly.

Is there really any point in trying to be balancd against a fish? I mean, most likely, he is not even paying any attention to the betsizes anyway.

Balancing is not too important vs fish. Also I generally don't want to bluff the fish too much unless I have reads - they are callhappy players so bluffing is per definition not an optimal strategy vs them .
