I think I overplayed the flop and turn, more so on the turn.

Would DB/fold flop, re-evaluate turn be the best line here?

At the time I didn't really have a plan for the turn. If I plan to c/c the flop and he checks behind then I pretty much have to c/f my hand to aggression if an overcard falls.I also thought that he will shutdown with all his air on T and R and only bet hands that beat me. It is also impossible for me to extract value from weaker hands this way, therefore I didnt see c/c as an option.

I chose to c/r for value/protection vs his bluffs and weaker pairs here. On the turn I think my bet is overplayed and I only get JJ+ and sets and 4x to call me here. I cant see him floating the flop with air here, so a random 9x isnt really in his range I think. Therefore I turn my hand into a bluff by betting here and isolating myself against a better range:

Board: 4♣6♥4♦ 9♣
       Equity     Win     Tie
CO     50.81%  50.00%   0.81% { JJ+, 99-77, 55, 33-22, TdTh, 6d6s, 6d6c, 6s6c, 4h4s }
SB     49.19%  48.39%   0.81% { TsTc }

At the time I saw another club hit and thought: I have to bet for protection and value against draws and overcards.

When I get raised it should be a clear fold against a value range for villain:

Hello muel294,

Well, sure. Your play is fine unless the opponent is really opening a lot less hands and vs his stack it shouldn't be even a huge problem to go broke. While he could easily even have there just overcards from we need to protect. Another option would be to play it passively and Check/Call the flop and reevaluate it on further streets.

Donking the flop doesn't make sense. I'd still let him CB there with his whole range. Unless you expect him to Check behind very often here.

Best Regards.
