what is the best option on the flop against this opponent, i did not wanted to call because it will be a hard decision on the turn if another overcard will come, by raising i am taking the initiative and protect my hand from draws

Hi,

I would played the same way as you did, but against 45/27 and relatively safe turn card I want to check first my equity:

board: 8sKc2c7d
Hand Equity Wins Ties
TT 63.65% 77,673 264
45% 36.35% 44,295 264

That shows I should be still ahead and since he would very likely donk again his strong draws I would prefer calling turn and then calling him down on blank river card. Also he would very often not bet weak Kx hands on the river, but rather would c/c, so you should get sometimes free showdown even if you´re behind.
