I don't know about you guys though but It doesn't feel right taking only 20bbs to a table?

MSS - Introduction
Mid stack strategy = 40bb
Short stack Strategy = 20bb

I make a lot of such an errors (by not paying attention to the details) and I don't consider myself an idiot

Not at all. The stack is just enough to play SSS. It's high enough to have some fold eq when shoving and it's low enough to do not really bother about post-flop game. Although I dunno if there are still many places where you can play SSS (cos of minimum buy-in limitations).
Big pain in the backside finding a room that allows SSS though, a lot of them have 40bb minimums now.
