Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $175,000(BB) Replayer
SB ($1522,331)
BB ($2952,329)
UTG ($231,694)
UTG+1 ($1081,870)
UTG+2 ($862,088)
Hero ($1021,524)
BTN ($1293,164)

Dealt to Hero A♦ 9♠

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $375,000, fold, SB raises to $1504,831 (AI), fold, fold

SB wins $1047,500

Really unhappy with my play either as i think its push or fold here and i just threw away a third of my stack. Problem was i didnt want to push as UTG was about to blind out which would give me and extra 100 dollars guarenteed, so i stupidly went for something inbetween/

Hey,

For me this is a push. True the BB has u covered, but I doubt BB will go crazy and call u super wide (I'd say ATs+, AJo+,77+ is the max range I could give him for a call here, which makes for 7.2% without excluding ur hand). The chip gains here are big enough to warrant the risk of pushing all in and I think folding is kind of softish. Raising will only put u in an even more difficult situation so try to avoid it in the future :)

Yeah was kicking myself bigtime when i raised, moment of madness i guess. See normally i would push but the UTG had less that 2 bb which would give me an extra % of the prizepool

I don't think u should worry about the extra % of the prize in this spot. U aren't that far off the chip lead and the BB's chip lead isn't big either. BB won't be too eager to gamble here, as his chip lead is slim as well and won't be willing to commit over half his stack unless he has a strong hand (this will almost always be even stronger than the 7.2% range I gave him in the original reply). With all that in mind, pushing here is the most +EV play.

if you can shove loser depends a little bit on their calling ranges. i would use pretty much that range :)
