Transfering to Poker Stars ?

hey. i started off on stars and built up enough to move up there. when i moved over to party i started playing nl4 and was having a little trouble but when i moved back down to nl2 i found it to be extreeemely easy on party. i dont know if that was because i was starting to get used to nl4 which is SLIGHTLY different, but i would say stay at party cos whenever i've played nl2 on party it has been a dream.

leave party, but dont go to stars. chose some othere platform, best would be some with high rake back, like Unibet or PKR + game there is so much softer at micros compare to stars or party.

I've played stars micro's A LOT and although the software (imo) is great, the general skill of the players is higher than other sites.

I've just moved to 888 (after 2 years on and off playing at Stars) and now I feel pretty much that playing at Stars has held me back from progressing quicker through the limits in the past. 888 doesn't have the best VIP program, however I think the $ you gain from playing such a weak player pool more than makes up for this.

I'd put NL2 on stars as a harder place to play than NL10 on 888. Also, don't forget that FT poker SHOULD be coming back shortly and will most likely be throwing out bonuses to try and recapture some of their regular players and get traffic back into the room.

I read it everyday, that the micros on Stars are very tough, but i do not think so. They are easy to beat. I think, i have to change to an other room, to make the way to the limits there.

On Stars there are 200 tables on NL2 and on 888 maybe 20-40?

I played there for 2 years, they are significantly harder than other sites. And also, what difference does it make as long as you get enough tables... If you are at NL2 then you shouldn't be mass-multi-tabling anyway. More working on your game. I bet you that all the tables on 888 are looser than the loosest 20 tables at Stars, I played on a table the other day and other than myself the minimum VPIP of any player over 50 - 60 hands was 50+. This is NL10!

I thought same as you Stars was okay and beatable - Infact I am pretty sure I posted something like that around these forums about a year ago. Simple thing is Stars players know the game. Some 888 players are just completely moronic, and goes for ipoker and other rooms also.

This is just my advice from my own experience, I have no need to try and promote any room... Stars is and will forever probably be my favourite card room, but for the micros I think you are better off elsewhere.

I climbed up at stars from zero. I like the software there.

What do you think, at which level it is the best to move to stars?

Depending on volume, I think the time to start at stars is when you hit (NL25 with larger volume) NL50 - You then get to earn a little something decent back via the VIP system, to make up for the harder field.

I agree Pokerstars (now that FT is not running) is by far the best software, but there are some up and coming rooms that are okay and bearable.

The best rooms to choose are any that also have casinos (888, Ladbrookes, iPoker etc) as part of the software, as this attracts gamblers rather than just Poker players.

In my personal opinion, iPoker network is awful the software is slow and unresponsive. When choosing tables the lobby takes so long to refresh at times that when you open a table the players are are about 50% different. Depending on the skin some of the support is almost non-existent also, and many are not poker savvy at all. If you do choose iPoker then pick one that has grounding in a real Land based company like William Hill, as these are usually the ones that have best support. And also you can just go down the local bookies (if you like) and deposit/withdraw.

Boss Media (Poker Heaven etc), and Entraction (24hr Poker etc) have nice looking software, but as for what it's like to grind I can't comment as I am yet to grind on any of these networks, but ask around the forum and I'm sure others will be able to help you with these.

888 Where I am currently grinding has decent software (very similar to Stars), the VIP system is a complete joke, but when you consider you have the FDB and then you can get a reload bonus EVERY month by just simply withdrawing and depositing again it kind of makes up for this as you don't expect much in the way of VIP benefits at the micros anyway. The animations and sounds are no where near the quality of Stars (obviously) but they are still liveable - I am yet to experience any connection problems either (touch wood).

I've never liked Party Poker, they have out-of-date polices, fees for everything, and when I did play there for a while, I had connection issues and very unhelpful support.

Cake network again is pretty lame, old out-of-date graphics, and just sitting at cluttered tables makes you want to tilt. Plus, last time I played there (around a year ago) the traffic was extremely low outside the normal peak poker hours.

There are others obviously but I think these are main ones and this post is already probably to long. And I haven't really played at any of the others recently enough to comment anyway.

Thank you very much for this report. At the moment I play at Stars and have a running bonus at Party. I’ve got the second $50 there.

I will think about my pokerplatforms between Christmas and new year. I don’t know which is best, but this overview will help me a little bit.

Stars is not hard at all. You just gotta pick your tables well. If you pick tables with all aggro regs means asking for high variance. Just pick soft tables. People still don't realize that table select is far more important than exploiting other regs. (I dont mean try to exploit regs isnt important, but less)

I'm done with any other poker site than Stars because of its shitty software and gossips about they being shady and stuffs, especially iPoker network.

The rake on Party Poker is a fucking joke. Party Poker has the highest rake of all sites.

Not playing iPoker network because its shady and the rakeback/VIP system is crap. Its slightly softer than Stars I heard but proper table select > iPoker.

I also tried 888 poker, I can't stand those crappy software. I play at least 8 tables and just doesn't work on 888 poker.

To be honest, since the rake on the micro is high, just abuse the first deposit bonus on multiple sites and build a fast bankroll and grind on a good platform.

Yeah, haven't played Party but if you value your roll - stay away from Stars. The last hour there was like a poker bloopers show. Almost funny. Seriously, go elsewhere.
