I'm not sure how to play pocket pairs, especially the lower ones.

1)

0.25/0.5 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (6 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: PokerStrategy Elephant 0.25 by www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is BU with 4♣, 4♦
2 folds, CO calls, Hero calls, SB calls, BB checks.

Flop: (4.00 SB) 5♥, Q♦, Q♥ (4 players)
SB checks, BB bets, CO calls, Hero raises, SB folds, BB calls, CO folds.

Turn: (4.50 BB) T♥ (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB folds.

Final Pot: 5.50 BB

(Well, it was a FR table)
First off, paired flop with a low card. I think betting flop is right here, but raising it? And betting a 3s turn?
I think BB feared a flush.

2)

0.25/0.5 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: PokerStrategy Elephant 0.25 by www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9♣, 9♥. MP2 posts a blind of $0.35.
UTG calls, UTG+2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 checks, MP3 calls, CO folds, BU calls, SB folds, Hero raises, UTG calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, BU calls.

Flop: (12.80 SB) 5♥, T♠, 5♦ (6 players)
Hero bets, UTG calls, 3 folds, BU calls.

Turn: (7.90 BB) 6♥ (3 players)
Hero bets, UTG folds, BU calls.

River: (9.90 BB) K♦ (2 players)
Hero bets, BU calls.

Final Pot: 11.90 BB

Paired flop here, but with a scarier card. I can't stop betting when I raise flop uncontested :P

3)

0.25/0.5 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: PokerStrategy Elephant 0.25 by www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is BU with 8♣, 8♠
UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 calls, 4 folds, Hero calls, SB raises, BB calls, UTG+2 calls, Hero calls.

Flop: (8.00 SB) 6♥, 7♣, T♠ (4 players)
SB bets, BB calls, UTG+2 calls, Hero raises, SB calls, BB calls, UTG+2 calls.

Turn: (8.00 BB) K♥ (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG+2 checks, Hero bets, SB calls, BB folds, UTG+2 calls.

River: (11.00 BB) 7♦ (3 players)
SB checks, UTG+2 checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 11.00 BB

Pair + gutshot. Should I have just called flop? What if nobody had bet?
Is it right betting turn for a free showdown here? ;)

1) Fold flop. You are not often enough ahead here with CO calling as well. If CO folds I think you can call the flop and probably call blanks on the turn and river as well.
I don't lie the call preflop. Is that what the SHC says? (If you play by the ORC then it's wrong for sure. Better isolate him with a raise.)

2) You are nearly always behind here but if you check he will bet the T anyway so bet/fold here and hope for a worse pocketpair or A-high.

3) Again I don't like the preflop call with a pocketpair. You have good chances of getting him HU if you raise which is what you want.
I somehow like postflop. I think there are 2 other ways to play it which all aren't that bad in my opinion:
a) Raise the flop for a freecard. Take it then at the turn.
b) Just call the flop and draw for your outs.

With already 2 callers to the bet of SB b) should be the best option.

SHC calls unraised preflops with speculative hands (88 to 22). How should I play them?

1) It's by SHC. But I think you can't use ORC when CO calls, and having 1 limper you only raise with 55+

2) Are turn and river right?

3)a) What do you mean by "Take it then at the turn"?

I tend not to pay much attention to flop calls as at some tables everybody seems to call flop, no matter what.

1) I was just unsure if the SHC says to play so. There is nothing wrong with it if it is so. :)

2) My comment above was about the river. Sorry for not mentioning it. Turn is fine.

3) The freecard. Check behind at the turn is option a).

Well you should pay attention if someone calls because it always lowers your chance of being ahead. Hand 1) for example makes that a fold instead of a call. With CO in there are just too many outs against you + the chance is higher tthat you are already behind. Hand 2) is even more influnced by the callers because if they have just draws then the chance that the better has the T increases which makes a raise less good.

A couple more. From .5/1 this time.

1)

0.5/1 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BU with 8♣, 8♦. CO posts a blind of $0.50.

Turn: (3.50 BB) 2♠ (2 players)
MP2 bets, Hero calls.

River: (5.50 BB) Q♣ (2 players)
MP2 bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 7.50 BB

This is from yesterday. But I have just read the WA/WA article. Is this such a situation? (so it's well played ;))

2)

0.5/1 Fixed-Limit Hold'em (10 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: PokerStrategy Elephant 0.26 by www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 8♦, 8♠
2 folds, UTG+2 calls, Hero calls, MP2 calls, 2 folds, BU raises, 2 folds, UTG+2 calls, Hero calls, MP2 calls.

Flop: (9.50 SB) 6♠, 3♣, 2♠ (4 players)
UTG+2 checks, Hero bets, MP2 folds, BU raises (All-In), UTG+2 calls, Hero calls.

Turn: (7.45 BB) 9♣ (2 players)
UTG+2 checks, Hero checks.

River: (7.45 BB) 3♥ (2 players)
UTG+2 bets, Hero raises, UTG+2 calls.

Final Pot: 11.45 BB

I think I should bet turn after he checks. Or I shouldn't raise river having checked turn.

1) Wa/wb is only for HU situations.
This is given from the turno n but not on the flop. He bets into 4 opponents so I doubt it's a bluff often enough.
Fold fold directly.

2) Better check/raise the flop. He will be nearly always because he want all his money in.
If you bet the flop then 3-bet after BU is allin to maximize your winnings and to prtect your hand.
Of course you shouldn't check the turn since UTG+2 wasn't the aggressor so you are very likely still ahead and you have to protect.
Raising the river is good after your check (but not if you bet the turn).

Please open a new thread next time for a better overview. :)

Oops. You're right. Forget about it. As I said, I had read the article right before posting. Forget about it :P

OK. Luckily, he was. I forgot to say MP2 was quite loose-passive (but I'm not sure I knew then). Does this change anything?

It makes sense.

I'll do, sorry.

If he was loose-passive it's even a more clear fold because the low cards are more likely in his range and the passive makes him bluff less. (Maybe you mean that he was loose-aggressive which means he plays many hands and likes to bluff a lot.)

I hear a lot about ORC in forums and instructional videos. Where can I get it?
