Just got moved to a new table and this is my first hand, so I don't have any reads on villain and he has no reads on me.

Villain insta shoves:

Poker Stars - $200+15 Tournament (#552020010) - Blinds: 200/400 +40 Ante, No Limit Hold'em (9 players)
Poker Stars Hand Converter Tool from CardsChat.com

SB: $7,361
BB: $10,213 - 26bb
UTG: $12,879
UTG+1: $6,409
MP: $25,034
MP+1: $12,700
MP+2: $22,798
CO Hero: $30,899 - 77bb
BTN: $29,283

Pre-flop: ($960) Hero is CO and dealt J♦: A♦:
5 folds, Hero raises to $824, 2 folds, BB raises to $10,173 (All-in), Hero?

It's very close but for 26bb I probably make a borderline call. Pretty sure most people would be sizing their 3b with anything monsterish. You're probably looking at mid pairs and somtimes worse suited Aces.

Player Equity Win Hi Tie Hi Range

   1 55.0 50.1 9.8 88-AA, A"K-J"{RB}, [K]Q, [A"K-T"], [K"Q-J"], [QJ], [JT]

if he shoves like that its 2 close for me -> with 26bbs and not soo much deadmoney i want at least 50% against his range here!
if you give him a loser range -> its becoming a call

in my 2nd range i also discount aa

then its a call :)

I called, he had A♣ 7♣

I also figured most people would 3bet the top of their range rather than shove. Worst case is run into AK or AQ, but this villain clearly has more worse Ax hands in his range to make up for that.

Although not sure why you want 50%?? Only 47% is required.

because i don't like breakeven calls.. -> especially so deep in such a tournament with enough weakspots normally!

AJs is too strong to fold in that spot with that stack sizes CO vs BB

77+,AT+ would be like BTN line to call and osmetimes KQs

77+,AT+ and sometimes KQs would be like BTN line to call in that spot imo
