Skrill registration triggered casino spam

I have the same problem. I get a ton of spam e-mail everyday with my usename claiming I have won 1000$ and other stuff. I created this new mail ID and use it only 4 moneybookers. So I'm sure MB triggered this scam.

How did they know my USER NAME??

I will have it checked as soon as possible, sorry for delays on this topic. However, I have dealt recently with similar issues of spam emails that were malicious ones, not sent by Skrill.

I will forward this to a relevant person at Skrill and get back to you.

I'm also getting that casino spam and I am registered with skrill, but didn't notice that it started with that, but it's quite possible.

The emails you forwarded to me are sent not from Skrill email address.

Yes, they are not sent from skrill email, but since skrill registration it has been happening and reading from other sources people with dedicated emails to only skrill are getting spammed, so the problem is not that skrill is sending spam emails themselves, but that they are giving information out so others could spam.

Not that big of a deal because of spam, because those spam emails are going straight to my spam folder, but it's that they can be throwing my personal information around.

Yes, I understood this, I'm pretty sure Skrill is not giving away any personal information to 3rd parties, but I will tell them we get many complaints that spam emails come usually at the same time with creating a Skrill account.

Skrill is aware of the situation, I forwarded them those emails and I'm waiting now for an official statement.

I received today official communication line from Skrill:

Moneybookers always takes security threats very seriously. We have some of the world's most sophisticated security technology to protect our users. We can also assure you that we never either give or sell our customers' details to third parties: selling customer data would completely contradict our business model, which is based on the trust of our customers.
There are many reasons to why this email could have been “guessed” such as simple brute-force spambots. These bots will randomize known words and brands and send emails to random combinations of them hoping that some don’t bounce.
Moneybookers can confirm that we never sell on email data or make it otherwise accessible to our merchants.

+1,so many lulz at their reply! I'm certain everyone has been reassured now, when several people have reported the spam to have started with the skrill registration.

It does make sense, since I've read that skrill/neteller are used primarily for gambling purposes so sending (gambler) users Casino spam is pretty much the nutz.

I was going to open up a Skrill account but this seems kinda shady..

Their official reply is false. The spam addressed me with the full name which I registered at MB. And that's my confidential email for important stuff only. Many friends of mine got the same problem.

What a serious security problem and they ignored it!!!

I thought about moving my online money every month 2 MB(keeping ~30BI in the poker room I play sngs) since no one knows when a poker site'll go down.
Now I don't know what to do

After more self investigation, I found there is a posibility that the leak came from POKERSTRATEGY.

My email address is very limited in usage. If MB is not the cause, PokerStrategy is my next suspect!
