River fold

Hi, the opponent is a 78/3. I folded on river but, what hand makes sense to the opponent plays that way? 5678? 5679? 5689?

78/3 calling station, he might play any 65xx that way. After all, he has a gutshot :)

To call the river against that kind of player, you would need a reason to believe he might be bluffing often enough. I would look his river aggression stat and then make my decision. If you don't have any reads/notes/stats about his river play, you should fold. Against better player, things might be different.

You've bet the flop and turn pretty strong. Villain has no reason to believe you will fold to the river bet, so I think it's a bet for value and a fold is absolutely fine here against a passive calling station. :f_biggrin:
