Hello everyone. My name is Hugqt, 20 years old and from the Netherlands. I'm currently studying philosophy, and I have been playing poker for about two months in the past. After a 'short' break (of about half a year) I'm finally playing 2NL on Pokerstars again. Even though I consider myself to be a winning playing on these low stakes, I think it won't hurt if I follow these courses.
Question 1: What is your motivation for playing poker?
I consider poker to be a game that requires quite a bit of studying. It's (obviously) not a game that's learned in half a hour. Despite the 'intense study requirements' I think there's a lot you get back from it (such as control over your nerves, quick problem solving, etc.). I'm also interested in the psychology behind it. Besides these forms of self-improvement, I'm also not shy for some extra money in the pocket. Hahaha.
Question 2: What are your weaknesses when playing poker?
I think my greatest weakness is betting top pairs against fish even though it's obvious they could be beating me. I should be more aware of the fact that, unfortunately, not -every- move a fish makes is a bad move.
Question 3: What does it mean to play tight aggressive?
Playing tight means that you only play a small, strong, selection of hands (depending on your position at the table). Playing aggressive means to raise/bet strongly during betting rounds. Combining these two means you play your strong hands aggressively pre-flop and continue to do so on later betting rounds if you made a good hand. If this is not the case you generally fold your hand (unless you're bluffing, for example).
