I work as chef at a Yatch Club, used to be a sales rep but found I had no time to myself and wanted a less stressful job! becoming a chef is not less stressful but much more rewarding! Also gives me plenty of time to practice this wonderful game!

Hoping to break 4nl Short Stack this year and get my BR up to play 10nl Short Stack.

Played a short session last night of 212 hands over 9 tables (mix of 2nl and 4nl). Found pace too fast for me and kept getting timed out so think 6 tables will be my max for now!

For some reason my VPIP went up to 16.1 (usually around 12). Not had a chance to study hands yet to see if I was being a little loose but I think I played a few AQ from ep which is not recommended for Short Stack. Basically you're inviting a reraise from too many players with no way to push a 4bet(realistically what are you beating pre flop) unless you want a coin flip which is not a profitable scenerio!

Had a tense Pre flop allin hand with Pocket Kings. Got 2 callers who had money behind so I had to wait until turn to know where I was. Ended up winning $4 so a nice 200%table.

Played a loose ep1 hand at the end with 88 against a call station which cost me $2! Villian had a 50vpip over a 40 hand period and my 8s tripped on a 987 flop, I bet 3/4 pot he called, Ace on turn and I made a vatal (trapping) error by only betting 3/4 pot expecting him to rep the Ace with a reraise (NOT CALL STATIONS NEVER RERAISE UNLESS THEY HIT)! he flat calls and 6 on river straightened his 53off!!!!!!! Because I was out of position I had to value bet so eneded up paying him off! Next time I'm allin on turn!

I am trying to get hands downloaded he but it takes me a while to work this technical stuff out!

5 point Summary.

1.Watch my ep play. Mid Pockets and Weak Ace* are not profitable from this position as you are lucky to be in front and so pushing allin to a reraise will cost you.

2. Never trap a Call Station! Get you money is when 0you know you are in front and never wait until river (CS only call on the river if they've hit their 9% hand but will call on turn as they luv to fish)!

3. Expect multi callers when you push pre flop! THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT! although tense, as long as you are playing correctly you will make a good profit in the long run!

4. At this level play a max of 6 tables. Any more seems to fast and I am timed out too often!

5. Start playing longer sessions (at least 500 hands)

*When playing short stack, AQoff from ep or mp is a Weak Ace! You are looking at you pre flop odds rather than 'applied odds'. Only time you get value is when against AJ/AT etc.

Even a KJ or JT caller has decent odds against as they have post flop position on you most of the time!

I think I played this bad at every stage:

Preflop: Playing Mid Pockets from MP is not good as I am fishing for that third 8 on the flop. Even a 246 flop is not as promosing as it first looks as I'm still dead to 99+

Postflop: When I hit the trip, I under bet the flop. I know the villians a Call Station so I should be betting Pot+ here. If he folds so be it!

Turn: No Idea why I messed about on the turn! 74c in pot already and I be50c!!!! Again should have been a Pot+ bet here!!!!

River: Could have saved myself .92c on river but figured there was still value in the bet (He plays every ace he gets so A6-A9 are def his range)

Finally had a negative session!

AA, bet twice by 33 & 66
QQ, beat by A9off
Flush drawing called a pot+allin bet on turn and hit on river!

Not down hearted as that's poker (got to give the fish some bait or they will swim away!)

Had a nice 'James Bond' suckout when holding KK against QQ & AA (will post)

Low Point I was -$3 managed to claw some back to finish -$1.71.
Realised I have been Buying into 4nl more Mid Stack than Short Stack (50BB) so will drop this down to $1.20 (30BB).

Luv playing these from Button/CO with a Limper Opening, It's so well disguised that you either pick up a cheap steal pre flop or get paid off.
If the limper has monster pair, it's quite rare for them to flat call my bet pre flop as they want value! If I'm reraised then I get out the way (unless I have a monster read and 1000+ hands info on the villian).

I seem to get my biggest loses when holding AA/KK and get a limp call with 33 and they hit flop. To me the difference here is that they have to hit to take my stack (1/20 I think) so the maths:

20 hands of KK/AA against underpair(22-QQ)
19x4.5BB to me= 85BB
1x31.5BB to him=31.1BB
leaves me 53BB up!!!
very rough maths but seems to work!

Strange weekend which I did not blog as needed to chill! Had a -$8 session with AA beaten 3 times in 12 hands! Managed to get a $2.16 session in yesterday which left me $12.32up on starting bankroll!

Yesterday ended up -$2.35 after I got drawn into loose play by fish!!! Been a while since I've been back to donkville and hope I'm not back there again soon.
Amazed me how easily I got drawn into loose play! Here's an example of how bad I played:

Villian had been stealing my blinds every time so I decided to reraise and bet flop before his first action! When he re-raised the flop I had pot odds so had to call but I should not have got involved in the first place!
Got loads of notes on his play and now I'm pretty certain he will call with top or 2nd plair and no kicker so long term I should be able to get paid well off him!

Considering in this session I doubled up on three tables, coming out down this much just shows how il-displined I played!

I played much better today alhough I (for some reason) took too much money onto the tables! Usual buy-in is $1.30 but went on with $2 per Table!!! Again I've go to control my displine and remember play short stack is 'Drip-Feed'.

Saying that, I was happy with my play and my showdowns where all valid. Had an AK vs KK and a TT vs AA (should have maybe got away from this one).

There were 4 really horrid beats when I was holding: AA vs KQo, AA vs 77, KK vs A9s & JJ vs QJ. Again, good notes on all villians and so should be able to target them hard from now on!

Sorry for not being on for a while! Had having HEM2 troubles!!! Also, been trying to get my 20k play money on PKR! Kept getting to 15k then get donked off by multi callers! Almost there now so another $20 in the bankroll!

I have decided that SSS is not a winner as you cannot enter a table on most sites with the reccommened buyin! Tried recalculating but was getting hit to much as way to many 'Fit or folds' calling me on the flop!

Been rereading Mid Stack strategy (MSS) and I am going to move up to that.
I will start a new thread for this!
