Hello coach

just played this hand and have a question about it.. I called his shove even though I knew I was probably behind, as surely if a player like this set mines me then over the long term his odds are terrible and I will eventually make a profit from him? Have left his cards showing to demonstrate what I mean about set mining.
is my thinking way off here?

Hey,

You should focus more on the Turn like what do you still beat while getting roughly 4.5:1. if you beat enough then we should bet/call here

What you can do on 2NL/5NL is just raise bigger preflop because that way you are guaranteeing yourself that he cannot make a profit as he has to call more preflop to see a flop

Best regards,
Gerv
