QQ vs fish

I think its ok. But if there werent a FD, i think checking and calling a bet is better.

Preflop is ok, sizing is good.

Postflop though, I like to check better. Board is super dry + have nice back up equity with our second nut flush runner-runner and we hate life if we get c/r from UTG. As played, if I bet, I will go for like 1/2 pot size, as played I call the shortstack. We can't fold, odds are too good.

I'm fine with your play on this board. If it was slightly more coordinated I think checking is better. Here I don't think UTG check/raises flushdraws often enough to put us in a tough spot. I'm pretty comfortable just bet/calling against BB and b/f against UTG.

What's wrong with checking flop? We only fear an ace now. We can't go 3 streets of value vs UTG anyway. Betting in a 3-way pot with a shortie involved shows strength, which is gonna make it hard for them to come along with worse often + we turn our hand into a bluff if we (even rarely) get raise with a draw. Not to mention we have back up equity with the runner-runner second nut FD + there is a higher chance to extract value from UTG's mid pairs such as 99-JJ on turn and river if we check the flop. We also give them room to fire up a bet with their bluffs/mid pairs or whatever.

To sum it up,

I think we have to pot control a bit here with that over on the board + it's a 3-way pot + it makes it easier to extract value from worse hands if we check flop and much harder to do so if we bet the flop. Our r-r FD equity makes it even less tempting for us to bet as there is not that much to protect from and we wanna keep worse hands in their range!

we get value from flushdraws if players aren't willing to check/raise them enough and put us in tougher spots. basically it's only when someone is aggressive with a nice balanced range that we get into tough spots betting QQ here on the flop
