PLO blog- How long can I stick to one game?

Hey guys, finally decided to start a blog! (Well I tried once before, but nobody replied :f_cry:

I have a pretty unusual poker story, which I can't be bothered telling now, but to cut a long story short I have played most games offered by stars and full tilt, and at most stakes from NL2 up to around NL200/ $60 SNGs

I took a break around September last year, to concentrate on chess, and withdrew my roll.

Started from scratch again in March (borrowed $100 from a friend to get started) and now have a bit over $1k _cool:

My biggest problem in poker is switching games ALL the time. As soon as I start running bad, obviously.

I tried to make an effort to focus exclusively on STTs about 3 weeks ago, but that didn't really work out. Games were reg-infested, STTs are boring.

Spoiler

and I ran bad

Ok, so basically the idea of this blog is to help me try to stick to one game.

I have chosen PLO for a few reasons:

1. I enjoy it
2. There is rush so i can play whenever and however long session I want
3. Lots of fishies
4. Good game to learn long-term

Obviously the big flipside to PLO is that the variance is insane
To counter that I will be using a strict 100 BI BRM

I'm hoping this will be a blog with a lot of poker content, and I will be posting quite a few hands, so all help/advice will be greatly appreciated!

And having said all that about sticking to one game, I still fully intend to play a few of the remaining SCOOP tourneys, as well as my HU SNG challenge against JB Patzer (what a patzer)

The cool thing about PLO10 is that most guys only 3bet AAxx, and therefore put everyone else on only AAxx. So instead we 3bet other hands, which means we hit the flops they try to bluff us off, and take it down on the A high/dry boards _evil:

Another solid session, lol. Will take a break until Monday, playing a chess tournament this weekend. If anyone is interested in chess content let me know :)

Here I 3bet a pretty good hand vs a very loose guy. On the flop he sees he has plenty enough equity against AAxx, but he is completely crushed by my better draw

Well, the chess tournament didn't go so well results wise, but I was quite happy with my play in most games. Here is the big blunder that ruined my tournament:

I had played 1.e4 e5 for the second time in my life, and used up a lot of time in the opening, but now I'm doing pretty well, with my great bishop on e4.

Basically I was 100% sure he would fall for e7?? Qxg2+ Rxg2 Rxf1#
So when he played he played Qe1, I spazzed out and went Bxg2, which just loses to chopping twice on f5 and e7 :(

After that I won my remaining games to finish on 3.5/5, but no prize money for that.
