Hello fellow PokerStrategy members,
I've been posting on here in the past about my issues, but this time things have gotten serious, and I would really appreciate any support from you guys <3
I am 18 years old and for the last year I have been in constant debt. Reason? Blackjack. That's right, my problem is that whenever I play poker, I start mixing it with blackjack, and every time I did it, it ended catastrophically - losing my WHOLE bankroll.
I do believe I am a winning poker player, but my profit gets messed up, all thanks to blackjack. A week ago, I won a nice tourney at poker, and then my bankroll stood at about $1000. This might seem strange to you, but this is the most money I've ever had available in my whole life! It's huge for me! Losing all of this would result in me falling in a great depression.
As stated before, I just can't resist blackjack, no matter how hard I try or keep telling myself I'll lose in the end. And obviously, besides playing poker, I've also mixed it with blackjack. And once I open that blackjack window, there's no way I can close it. Especially if I'm at a loss, I just won't stop until I get the whole loss back or just lose my whole bankroll and then feel horrible.
So, yeah, after mixing poker with blackjack for the last few week, my bankroll has been on a huge swing. It fell from $1000 to $300, climbed back up to $1500, fell down to $500, and at this very moment it stands at $2000.
See, now exactly there's my problem. I just doubled my whole bankroll in a week, all thanks to blackjack. I literally won $1000 in a week with blackjack, which is a whole lot of money for me.
But, seriously, I just ended a session of blackjack, and I have this feeling that if I don't stop playing it, in the next few days my life may just fall apart if I lose these $2000. Therefore a huge decision stands before me.
Should I somehow try to overcome my blackjack addiction, and risk my bankroll (since obviously I can't control myself)? Should I withdraw my whole bankroll right now, and forget about poker and gambling for the rest of my life (this would be very hard for me, because I see poker as one of my main incomes in the future). Should I seek professional help?
