PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (9 handed) Poker Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

BB (t1450)
UTG (t1630)
UTG+1 (t1640)
MP1 (t1470)
MP2 (t1430)
MP3 (t1410)
CO (t1810)
Button (t1180)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J♠, K♠.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls t20, 1 fold, MP2 calls t20, MP3 calls t20, 1 fold, Button calls t20, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (t120) J♣, 6♥, 8♠ (6 players)
Hero bets t100, BB folds, UTG+1 folds, MP2 calls t100, MP3 folds, Button folds.

Turn: (t320) Q♦ (2 players)
Hero bets t150, MP2 calls t150.

River: (t620) 5♠ (2 players)
Hero bets t200, MP2 raises to t1160, Hero folds.

Final Pot: t1020

Couple things about this hand:
villian is a donk.
Pre: might have folded to avoid such trouble but it's 1:11 and i am deep enough.
Flop: kinda good, narrowing the field.
Turn: ugly. i still want a showdown but make it cheap. i bet small for pot control. not really giving odds but i might seem weak.
River: well i meant a blocking bet but it did not really work out.

i was going for a cheap showdown but i ended up burning third of my stack.
how do you play this?
i am thinkig about checking the turn but i did not see a road to showdown that way. giving this up would have been better after all and i shouldn't have gone for a showdown.

still i would welcome some thoughts on this.

80 on flop. Check/fold turn.

Or even check/fold flop? 6 handed in an unraised pot TPTK seems ugly to me but I'm used to playing on Titan with almost zero FE in these situations, you're prolly ok on stars.

C/F turn IMO

If you wanted a cheap showdown would C/C turn not be better?

actually what i do in these spots is check/call each street. if the turn was better, and 3-way or less, i would go for either bet/call or check/raise.

if the flop was checked through, i'd bet out on the turn on a blank.

of course, this isn't the most standard play ;)

completing pre is definitely ok, i would even say standard... but you're half-right in the need to play a small pot with your TPTK.

don't you think, that c/c all streets would have cost me more?

and yeah i would not force tptk again in this spot.

sry, i mean c/c flop and reevaluate turn, etc.

whenever someone fires 3 barrels behind, you can be pretty sure you're not good with TP2ndK ;)
