my dirty red line

Hello people.
Im playing NL10, thought i'd do a lose blog about it. I'm aiming to make it up to something like NL50, and make some monies there.

This is my current graph

Spoiler

and these are my stats....

Spoiler

The more inquisitive of you will realise my red line is disastrously poor. From other blogs I've seen, most winning players have increasing red lines (obviously)... Loose analysis of my game would say its cos I am too prone to making moves amongst other things, I also think i call too many cbets (my current value is 53% fold to cbet).

Does anyone have any comments about my stats? is it possible to win with such a bad red line?

I'm going to post some hands up where i don't reach show down which might show some of my gaping weaknesses...

I will dub the increase of my red line 'the mission' from herein....

But for the time being does anyone have any comments?

Your redline is fine. Your sample size is super low. Not every big winner has a winning red line.

Spoiler

Dont worry about your redline. It really depends on your style of play a lot and unless your losing 10bb+ on nonsd you have nothing to worry about.

Focus on improving your game and making the best decisions. Dont make a dumb call/bluff for the sake of red line. Thats just dumb.

Hello, and welcome to our blogging section!

Like MatejM47 says, ~12000 hands isn't much of a sample, and it is indeed possible to be a winning player with a declining red line, just means you need to win more at showdown to compensate.

I've got periods of time where I often have a declining redline myself, but I try to aim for it to be hovering at marginally losing or break-even normally (aiming for it to be winning might become a goal at a later stage for myself, too!), so I will be following this for sure!

It looks to me as if you are a little bit too active and loose in the sb though, based on the large VPIP and losses sustained there, even if you were folding 100% in the sb, you would lose less than you currently do, so might need some looking into. Again however, samplesize..

Anyway, looking forward to updates and hoping to learn something here myself!

Regards,
Richard

Hey,

Your redline is fine. I wouldn't worry about it too much most tags have a negative one. The green line is the most important thing!

You seem to have some pretty big leaks in the small blind like fruktpuff said. I think you could be slightly looser in the btn and co. But again with such a sample its hard to say for sure.

One thing judging from your hands is your probably calling 3b/4b oop with marginal holdings too much.

1) I'd get it in or fold.

2) Same again. Your going to get yourself into a lot of tough spots oop

3) When you get check/raised in a multiway pot your most likely behind here so just fold unless you have some solid reads

4) Fold pre. Even as played there's no point betting turn.

5) I wouldnt 3b these kind of hands. Espc against such a tight opp. As played fold turn. You don't have the odds to call for your straight plus if a Q comes your losing to Kx. So your looking for a 7 and the 7d isnt the best card so you've only got 3 outs (unless you count the A)

This is just my opinion so tho.

@matej
Yeah that is very reassuring, so thank! And if that's your graph, its very impressive! But I still think I should be able to improve it. It should pay dividends!

@fruktpuff and holmeboy
Ill continue to update the graph until I have something a little more reliable. I think initial adjustments will be to fold more rather than 3 betting.
Do you think re-stealing AJ from SB vs button with someone who is rarely folding to a 3bet is a good or bad thing to do? I think this is something which i'm loosing with!

This is an example of my 3 betting/squeezing from sb, I can find myself folding AQs and calling i thought would not be getting enough value.

Here I just called and bb called behind, which gave me issues... But different to the last one, I think my hand isn't good enough to 3b.

So yeah. this type of hand i struggle with in general.

Also, I agree with your analysis. It's annoying, it always becomes so much clearer when im looking back at it! With 4, i call because im getting about 4-1 ultimately. what type of hand do you think villain has? slow played AK/AA? surely bet kings there.

Anyway thanks for the responses!

I have probs aswell, but like the others say, as long as your winning its fine. I have 200k with a shit redline but OK winrate.

I think that winning at the moment is great, keep doing that for 20k hands, then look for and plug one leak at a time (with say 10 small things to work toward).

I was never 3betting strangely.....have got that up to 9% (from 3%) over a small sample of 15k. Its plugged one leak....now onto the next. Also I think its good to improve in a way that doesn't ruin the things that you are doing well...no point plugging one leak to create another. :)

also w the AQs squeezed hand, I think that is a horrid flop to cbet. just think of all the broadways, big overpairs, sets & suited connectors that have to peel or raise that flop in a squeezed pot...

I think Nikachu cover it in part 2 of this vid series. Gotta be the funniest coach ever :)

your defending your blinds to much by calling and 3 betting just give them up and only 3 bet for value and the odd 3 bet bluff vs tags with hands that can flop good

my red line is normally neutral but will dip when they get their and i have to fold, as said don't even bother about this as most of your winnings that come ip with your value hands will more than compensate
