In that hand i made a little loose open raise with K,To, i always play shorthanded 6max, so i will not mention it again. that will be a very learnful hand for me cause i have a general question.

prefl: i raied K,To from earliest position, next player 3 bet and one called.

flop: 7,9,10. i/c raised the initiative man with my TP,he called and third player also.

turn: K- two pair! i bet he called, third player folds.

river: Q. now J combinations have straight.

now my general question: when the pot is big and i wanna see a showdown cheaply, is it best just c/c on such rivers?

On River you play always bet/f or bet/call depending on your previous hands with oponent.

You play bet/f beacuse if you play check, he ll go checkbehind with worser hands, but if you bet you can get value from hands like AK, AT, AQ from which he went into colddown mode.

After he raises your bet on River you can surely think yourself beaten and just fold.

If oponent is too much agresive then you have there b/c.

one thing Ive learned from this place is that you dont put them on one specific hand in which case is the hand that beats you.. believe me ive done that plenty of times and gotten beaten up by it. just last night actually.

you gotta think in ranges. What is this player a loose passive ? loose aggressive? tight passive? tight aggressive? when you clasify your opponent in one of these categories you can work out a mental hand chart he could have and what he would do with it.

Hand:

first of all i should advise you not to open KTo in LJ (UTG / earliest pos) evne in 6handed games. Perhaps if 3 of the players at least are tight guys then perhaps. And ive been in your games man that is not the case most of the times. :)

the hand really play itself out on flop and turn. on the river not much to say than b/f if raised b/c if you know your opponent has a range of approximately 60+ vpip imo.. he will raise all his Ax, Jx but.. call with other two pairs. any one pairs and fold all the rest. if hes a major fish he would probably still call with his underpairs. (ive seen that rare case but happens)

As Avataren already said. You should stop openraising KT from early Position. You'll too often be dominated. From CO it's a no brainer openraise but just KTs is an Openraise from early Position. And in Poker you don't have general answers but with having no specific information you gotta stick to some default line i understand. :)

Generally: Don't do a tough fold against an unknown player and 2pair would be such a fold. IF you bet you have to play bet/call. Of course he'Ll have Jx most often but the pot became large and you just have to pay one another bet for 10BB Pot. Just with a read that he'S passive and would probably never do bluffraising with a worse hand you can consider folding but he may have called something like 78 or 98 and is raising or he raises with Q9 or with anything else that may not make any sense but don't ask for the sense on these stakes. :)

Normally he should either have a weak hand that he's goin to fold very often or he does have the straight but the thing is that you cannot well assume that he would have raised 89 87 QT T6 76 etc on the Flop. He could have just called, even with toppair. That makes his calingrange significantly wider and basically you'll often enough get called by just Qx like Q8.

Without knowing he loose he's willing to pay off and what kind of hands we can exclude because he'd raised the flop with it's sort of difficult to determine a reasonable range but 2pairs like Q9 QT he'll certainly bet himself once we check to him and normally he should not call a hand like 89 or T8. But he'll of course raise with J9 J7 ,delayed QJ KJ JT.

I would play check/call without a read.
