Preflop: Hero is BTN with J A
2 folds, CO calls, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, BB folds, CO calls, Hero calls

Flop: (10 SB) K 9 K (3 players)
SB bets, CO calls, Hero calls

Turn: (6.5 BB) A (3 players)
SB bets, CO calls, Hero calls

River: (9.5 BB) 6 (3 players)
SB bets, CO folds, Hero calls

Results: 11.5 BB pot (0.5 BB rake)
Final Board: K 9 K A 6

Shouldn't I have been more aggressive. ? i just thought with his 3b a King was likely in his range. and i call flop of course no brainer in my opinion. and when i hit my A im not even sure if thats my ticket to win the hand right.
so is calldown like the worst thing in the world ?

Its small blind vs Button, your losing alot of value by not raising that turn.

You played it well. Rantrave. You're right that we have an equity edge but you cannot take his entire range, figure the equity and say: We are ahead, we should raise. You gotta consider the worse hands that still call down. If he's got 33 he'll certainly fold to a raise and he's less likely to have JT QT QJ etc. And consider that we can still be facing a 3bet from AK AA KQ KJs 99 etc. You could just extract Value from AT but that's actually the only hand so Calldown is absolutely fine. :) Pocketpairs that you scare off by raising the Turn will certainly check/call a Riverblank non T J Q etc. You could have missed Gutshot , flushdraw etc. You played it perfectly well. Calling Flop is ok with bd Flushdraw, the chance that SB checks the Turn and with bd straightdraw.

Why you think he ll throw out all his Aces from A2s-AKs/A5-AKo, probably we ll face a 3-bet from higher aces / Kings, but we have to extract value from all smaller aces, which are tons there.

And after C-bet flop, he gonna continue on that turn with all his aces.

Also there is plenty of draws like gutshots + fsdraws.

@Rantrave

I think that you have misred the hand. It's not Button vs SB, so your handrange for SB (which is kind of optimistic even in SB vs BU) just isn't right. To give you a free read on me: I wouldn't fire away twice on that board, if I was the small blind, versus two opponents without having a piece of the flop.

Moreover, if somebody is drawing well threeways, you aren't exactly "charging" them by raising up a possibly second best hand.

And that third player then? Are you in a blind war if you (SB), BB and five other players are in the pot? This is not a button vs SB typical war.

The presence of a third player changes ranges and dynamics. Your preflop raise is no longer a steal attempt and SB's reraise is not a steal defense. And so on.

Rantraves first table with equities is quite clearly one player short and the rest of his reasoning at least hints that he may have forgotten that third player.

It's correct that third player who already limped in changes a lot. Don't know if SB is aware of that and he may be capable of 3betting with A6o though but i doubt it. 3handed being oop, not getting HU, you should throw away your small aces and coldcall hands like A3s etc. This is how you're supposed to play which doesn't mean that SB plays differently and playes A5o like that but normally he should rather have A5s A6s A8o+ etc and even if you count in A9 (less likely as one 9 is already dealt out) you lose 2BB against Kx and you suffer from his 2 outer folds (Pocketpairs). and he does still have AQ in his range. So your EQ is not good enough to justify raising and you don't want him to fold his worse hands. If you are a favourite, then just a small one but consider the 2/3 rule!
