Softest Vegas Tournaments?

Since I haven't been to Vegas for quite some time I can't suggest any tournaments - especially not in your price class. Maybe we find someone else who can assist you - unfortunately most people that have informations like this are already in Vegas for the WSOP and most of them won't check the forums during their stay.

I know it's at the bottom end price wise but I'm looking to work up the levels slowly.

Have you tried the cashgames already?
They are extremely soft, especially while the WSOP takes place, and you will find low limits more easily. They should be beatable by everyone who plays poker successfully - no matter which game he comes from.

I've had some success with cash games at the red rock but I'm new to live poker and the tournaments give me more time at the table for less money.

I'm also still a little over aggressive for cash (back to the books unfortunately)

I was just recently in Vegas and all tournaments are super soft in this buyin range.

The Bigger problem is that every poker room takes between 20% and 40% rake so it doesnt make much sense to play them.

Im a tournament player as well but i only played tournaments over 300$ Buyins because of the ridic rake.

I would also recommend you to play cash games instead, or if you dont care about the rake then it does not matter in which casino because as i said, these tournaments are soft in every casino.

From what I understand, basically all the small casinos have a $50 tournament each day that is super soft. Obviously the rake is through the roof. Aria has a daily $100 tournament and I think Bellagio has a daily $200 tournament with re-entries, which is also soft. Basically, any dialy tournament in Vegas with a buyin below $500 or so is going to be full of weak players. Good luck!

Firstly I have a question for all those here stating that "super soft". What does that mean? Are you cashing every time you go there and play them?
Also can you please define what amount is ridiculous rake! From my recollection it is about 25% at most all casinos and when you consider the overhead it isn't unreasonable.
We are so spoiled with the 10% online!

Super Soft means that there are a lot of weak recreational players that don't even know the exact rules. It doesn't mean that you will cash each time since variance is always a big part of the game. Your edge should be very big though.
25% rake is ridiculous imo. It's hard to beat the game if the rake is that high.

Some of the cheapest buy in's have 30%+ rake which is crazy

I don't think that tourneys are raked. You have a buy-in amount and then you have an admin amount, which is essentially the rake for the house. Why would they rake tournament chips that does not have monetary value.
i think the fishes are in this thread, since they don't know what they are talking about. To make matters worse, readers will follow what they write and you get to vegas and you burn. Thanks eh, for the info that is very incorrect.

I have played at gold coast 22 buy-in 20 to the pot 2 to the house i finished 1st chopped it with the second place. There were like 3-4 tables made like $160 and gave $10 to the dealer and floor manager. This was 5 years ago. But they don't have a poker room at gold coast.

Last year, around same time went to RIO for a 65 tourney at 10:30am, 50 to the pot 15 for admin, I did not cash at all. Was I a fish then? Maybe, but the competition, was a lot tougher than I expected. And one guy was just so lucky getting pocket pairs and hitting his sets and flushes on the flop or 4th sts. How can you beat someone just getting the right at the right time.

Expect these eventualities when playing tourneys in vegas. With everything that is out there to perfect your poker skills the fishes have all matured and are now sharks too, so beware.

Rake = fee to house.

So that $2 you paid in the $22 is sometimes referred to as rake! Just a misunderstanding of terminology.
