I thought if I checked he would call my shove with worse hand.
I didn't have protect and he don't know my betting pattern.

Flop directly shove is preferred?

Hey,

I think it is fine as you want to give him some rope for bluffing you :) Also it makes no sense to check AK (in his mind) on the Flop so you get paid out more liberally on the Turn

You can also bet small on the Turn and then shove the River
