Hi, just got home from the Casino Poker Series in my country, 275€ buy-in (won a ticket from a satellite).

Blinds 75/150, I was utg with around 21k stack, open to 500 on utg, everyone folds except the bb.

The flop came 946, 2 hearts. He donks 1k, I raise to 3k, he calls.

Turn is a 4, now there are 2 hearts and 2 diamonds. He bets 4k, I thought for a while and called.

River came a 7 of spades, and he bet 7k. I took a minute and ended up called calling, I thought he could have missed flush or have a worse pocket pair.

What do you think?

Hi all,

I like the entire hand as played. Nice one. If he is a good player then you should not raise the flop, instead call and play in position.

I am a big fan of raising big preflop pre antes, especially in live poker. I think people put a lot of dead money in preflop (inelastic calling ranges) and we make a lot more money continuation betting. It increase our variance by forcing us into bigger pots but I think it's by far more profitable.
