i have 1.5k hands on this guy and he just NEVER makes it this sizing. how to proceed vs that and his stack? which more info is needed?

What's his normal size then? But if you fare that and he shows strength with the sizing then just fold it vs his stack, no point to pay either.

i ended up folding but felt "wtf folding AKs vs midstack being in position" but there's not much i want to hit i guess.

Not really if we see strength in those hands. You had anyways the best feeling during the game yourself, hard to comment myself. But I have had enough of similar spots where it's easy to read from opponents sizing.
