Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets, BTN calls, Hero calls, BB folds

Turn: (3.5 BB) J (3 players)
Hero bets, UTG calls, BTN folds

River: (5.5 BB) 6 (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG calls

Results: 7.5 BB pot (0.3 BB rake)
Final Board: 9 T 8 J 6

UTG: 31/4/2.0/17k hands

as you can see i got a pretty decent sample on this Loose passive guy. When you get two calls on that board. I really do think he wont bet again. So i was trying to see if i could piss him off and make him call down with a pair + 7 or K .. Normally im not fond of donk betting. I see it as what it is called. a play only a donkey or retarded person would do. but i was sure this was the only way to not miss a bet. So temp. i was being a donkey.

With these stats and your read he won't bet i'd donk too. Ok it's the standard line, but you've got good reason to donk the Turn for max value.

I would bet the flop for value and as played donk is fine! Very often a 2pair calls down to donkbets but could check the turn , being afraid facing a checkraise from a straight. YOu could get more value from 7x by checkraising but he doesn't frequently have 7x but rather some pair kind of hand that he may show off with. You should erase your thought that donking is an idiot play.

Donking out is fine in particular circumstances. This is one where donking out is very beneficial because donk looks weak and there are not many hands you gain a lot by checkraising. It makes your hand too obvious and as i said. People get justifiably afraid of being against a straight but if you donk, they could level themselves into a loose calldown. Especially since you are oop against 2.

Don't blame yourself for donkbetting. It's often a good play multiway.
