Hero bets, CO calls

Turn: (3.5 BB) 5 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls

River: (5.5 BB) J (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls

Results: 7.5 BB pot (0.3 BB rake)
Final Board: 3 9 7 5 J

I have been having a lot of trouble with my call downs. both with pairs and A high. Im wondering if im a complete retard calling down here?

I'm interested in what the coaches say (this is a leak of my own). I think i'd bet the Turn again just to push him out, but is that's the most profitable line I don't know.

It's ok to check/call the Turn. There's not a big gain in betting with AQ: No better hand is folding and 5 connects well to 9 and 7. So check/calling and giving him the opportunity to bluff a hand like T8 JT QT etc ... it's fine. But i would actually fold this River. J connects just too well to his semibluffing range, containing too many straightdraws like T8 JT J8 etc. and 68 has gotten there already. If River is a blank, you should check/call but not on the worst card in the deck! :)
