CBetting the flop is still considerable whilst we have some backdoors and may make some of his PP range to fold. Though turn 2nd barreling doesn't really make sense cause we ain't really making many hands to fold what called on the flop.

anyway yeah, we checked it down and he came up with T8s which was slightly tilting ♦ but i felt i had done the right thing™

Those cards rather improve him more often than us, whatever pair he even had may turn into 2pair now and he ain't folding it. So we ain't 2nd barreling it.
