from a massive upswing(check successes forum) to a massive downswing today, lost $20 in 5 hours multi'ing 4 tables...
bad beats galore. in the 5 hours i had trips beaten by runner runner straights at least 10 times, had my straight beaten by a runner runner flushdraw(who the hell calls an all in with 5 8 suited?) and my favorite of all... had my flopped quads beaten by a runner runner straightflush(that last one lost me $4 on its own)
2 buy-ins is just normal ups and downs in no-limit. It doesn't qualify as an upswing or a downswing. If you don't like swings like this, then you could maybe play FL.
I wish I had a "massive downswing" like that when I have downswings. $20 is nothing man, thats like everyday for me..... ♦
usually it wouldnt matter, but when my bankroll has been cut by 2/3 from it i kinda have to worry
gggeorgio: its 20 buyins, not 2 buying.

well, its not the point to get arrogant, imo
its never about the real ammount
he put efforts in building his bankroll and in terms of BB's its quite a lot
Semesa,
its sad, but you can't do nothing here
sss is swingy, so try to use it to your advantage and learn how to deal with it...
next time it will hurt less
however, keep working on your game
review your play, post hands, visit coachings
its always easier to overcome it by styding) just makes you feel better
Today is our beginners SSS coaching

I loled.
Good luck semesa recovering, though your recent tourney win seems to have helped heaps
Hey terrorblade, I read your downswing report... I guess I shouldn't talk about things I don't know enough about...
to semesa, I didn't realize you were playing SSS, 20 buyins is quite a bit indeed.
Hopefully you guys can both get some luck to come out of your downswings
(seems like this has already started happening to you semesa, congrats on the 2nd place)
as i am forever the mathematician and moreover, naive, teenager(18 2 months ago) i made a very bad assumption today, that being, that titan poker is honest.
or, to be more precise, i found out in a very rude manner that they rig their roulette wheel.
up $140 to go down $255. at one stage today i was sitting pretty on $300 bankroll, (started the day on 160) however due to my naivety in thinking that the roulette really was a coin flip, im now down to $10.
FWIW i was using the martingale system to win $2 at a time... the chances of me losing( if it were not rigged) is roughly 1 in 2048.
gunna wait for my $50 deposit and grind back up again
@ Semesa: There is psychology behind the casinos on poker websites. The thing is that when you lose like $20 in 5 hours on a micor limit you want to get back to even. So what do you do? Play high stakes game but you can't take a seat since your bankroll is too small.
What else? Play $20 HU quick and win? But what if you face someone who is up $50k from heads up games and is inevitably better than you?
So your only option is to play a quick game of roulette and get back to even. And in many cases people do get back to even and end up making a few extra dollars, which makes them addicted to the roulette.
The roulette is not rigged itself but if you win first time, you will go back again and again.
Small poker sites like Titan will use these to increase their low profits compared to full tilt and pokerstars which make enough from poker rake.
So avoid going to the roulette games, I write articles on why not play poker for living, why not to play roulette with poker so you can call me a bit "experienced" to try save you from blowing your whole life.
Good luck!
Um....
Roulette is rigged in the sense that it is impossible to win in the long run, there is no "even" chance it is something like 49% chance to win, because of the 0 which is neither red nor black.
The problem with the doubling-your-bet system is that you are doomed to failure after long enough time....(maybe straight away). It's a casino game and thus the point of it is to make money.

i realised this, i know the flaw in the martingale system, i also know that with the bankroll i had, odds were that i would bust out AFTER making around 2000. 1/10 of what i ended up making(and subsequently losing).
the equivalent odds of being sucked out on a runner runner straightflush.
@arjun: i am in no way addicted to gambling, i have extra ordinarily low dopamine levels, hence its almost impossible for me to become addicted to anything.
however the system i used was not to "get my bankroll back on target" but rather "oh look, i just found a way i can make money"
and it worked quite well... until it didnt.
the only reason why im still not sitting pretty on $300 bankroll is because i really wanted to make the bankroll an even number. at th etime it was at $298. $2 more till 300... and i quite dislike leaving without having an even bankroll(call it OCD if you like).
OT:
the martingale system is mathematically proven to be ineffective for overcoming games where you are a -EV...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martingale_system
only works if you actually do have infinite funds, and even so, the risk:reward is so damned bad.
american roulette has 38 holes, 18 red, 18 black and 2 zero. Suppose you place a bet on red, the casino gives you odds of 1/2(18/36) and your actual chance to hit red is 18/38
european rouletter has 37 holes, just one zero - which is better but not +EV

I would disagree with the impossible long run point. I'd go into more detail but it's 5 am here. I met a man at my last job who showed me about 100 pages of documents (and that's just what he had on him at the time) of graphs and personal analysis he gathered over 20 years of playing roulette and winning 70% of the time and how he was able to do it. Of course, you're right that the casinos want you to lose money on it - he's not allowed back in Vegas anymore (though he's 80 so I can't see him doing it now).
all casino games are rigged! If you read theory of poker by sklansky, he states that even if the casino is one thousandth of a percent favourite, in the long run even the richest guy in earch would go busto
