1: I would have hard time to believe villain. Just line I would not expect to see from strong made hand. After all he gives such awesome pot odds.

2: I doubt we are often beat, but getting value should be difficult also. Only hands that would make sense from turn and river line are A4s or A6s. From strong made hands.

3: No reason imo. I would have feeling that we are often ahead here. Also seeing his hand would be nice info.

4: Must be thin value. He wont get that much fold equity unless we are on some float or have reason to give his line lot of respect.

Him opening this hand especially being offsuit from early position is plain bad. Would not expect to see such hand from decent player.

1. i dont see why you bet? do you expect this guy to c/c turn with worse? i doubt he c/c draws. i check back turn, make my hand look like a mid pair and that he bluffs river. as played, i dont think b/c is standard. standard to me would be folding to the c/click. its a FPS line from him, but readless what are you going to do when he fires river (which he usually will do). unlikely he has top set, but he could have middle/bottom sets or 2 pair in his value range. we get good odds but we only have 5 outs to a redraw and some of those might be counterfeit by a strange backdoor draw. i play it cautious and fold as played.

2. easy check imo i dont see any hand he can call you with.

3. we have SD value vs the hands he just gives up. i dont think we need to bluff. especially considering he probably wont check/fold trips or a flush.

yes, his open is terrible.
looks like he is semi-bluffing. his line would have worked on me, but i think that would have been a fluke. looks to me like he just clicks buttons at random.

I prefer a 3-bet pre to flatting even w/ someone who has those LAG statistics.

Wondering whether we wouldn't be better off choosing something like A8 for what is essentially a bluff three bet? (This assumes that he never calls oop.) I guess even against this guy 3b call will be marginal with AJ and 3b/fold seems a waste.

Or maybe I'm being too nitty and 3b call is ok?

IMO, no one is 4betting AT in villain's spot. so I think faarcyde is advocating for a value 3bet from villain's flatting range and folding to a 4bet jam.

Yeah, that was my assumption too. In which case, unless villain calls oop, I like to 3b (e.g.) A8o and call AJ since we only get the value associated with our hand when villain calls with worse. Or rather, we get value when he r/f pre but it's the same value as when we do it with A8.
