[Closed] Playing live in a casino w/ music?

First and more important:
I personally dont know a casino that will let you buyin with 20BB. Ive been playing for months, and if you find one, it will be a rare thing.
Second:
Playing SSS at a live game is impossible - you just need a LOT of hands to be having some profit, you wont do even in the internet at one table, and casino play is 3 times slower.
Players will see that you are "a nit", will adapt, and will eat you for breakfast.
Every sentence i say is drawn from the conclusion that the previous one is wrong(which isnt so), but just to answer your question - yes, you can listen to MP3s, its even a must for long sessions. Be sure to know whats happening on the table though, i never liked the one who forgets to paste his blind or acts like he's last when its his turn , starring stupidly and murmuring song words.

By rabbit hunts i suppose you mean the stupid question "can i see the next card?", when everybody folded - the casinos where i played did not allow it, i hear that some do, but its just lame, and will do nothing but give you a bad table image.

There is indeed at least one casino in the world where the min. buy in is 20BB.
It's Casino Rama, located in Ontario, Canada.

And yes, they only have full ring 11 seat tables (another rarity from what I've seen)

Ok, ignore the first part and look for the next ones.
11 players isnt so much different , more people = hand values go down,made hands preflop are the best to play.
But still, you cant play SSS live. Thats like cleaning the floor with a toothbrush.

Now why not? Is it just because players will figure out that I'm just super tight? I have heard that these games at this casino are extremely fishy (btw, I work there and am quiting mid august). I would almost guarantee that half the players wouldn't notice that I'm sitting there folding everything. Not to mention that these tables change frequently (as I've been told by a dealer friend).
Do you think either of those two things would make SSS more playable?

I don't like to listen to music while playing live... there's just too much free information available to not pay attention to every single comment they make. Also, it can lead you to mistakes... for example, you didn't listen that someone has raised and you announce a raise... words are binding.

Ok i guess you played on the internet. I guess you were multitabling at least two tables. That makes around 160 hands/hour.
at a casino, you will get 20-25 hands/hour. you will be sitting for hours there, folding everything but the top hands, and thats impossible not to notice. Even if no1 adapts, your expected value by playing SSS is not that much, the true winrate of SSS players comes from the large number of hands due to the easy multitabling and the rakeback deals and bonuses. YOu wont get any of that live.

Let me tell you what I actually did. I started SSS over a year ago here. I won about 200$, and then i started to be interested in poker. I improved my game a lot, searching for different sources. Then I went to the casino(the games there are NL200 or NL500 with 2/2 or 5/5 blinds in euros, so pretty rich). I didnt have the bankroll , but needed the money. So I sat for hours in the actual casino, pretending to play slots, and observed when someone that won/lost at some casino game will head to the poker table. I followed the tourist, sit after him( th games were 3-4 to 8 handed most of the time), and I adapted against him. Against the regulars I was playing kinda nitty, keeping the pot small and i think my winrate against them was just enough to beat the rake. Against the tourist fishes I was still playing nitty, but this time making huge valuebets on every street. I actually needed a night or two to pay my monthly rent. And so I did for months.
The downside - the regulars adapted, and the last two months were bullying me pretty much out of every pot. I couldnt do anything about it, I didnt have the bankroll to play that limit seriously.
My hunts for tourists were pretty much successeful. Now Im building an online bankroll and wont return to that casino until i can handle the regulars too.

My point is - take the free chance that internet gives you - lots of hands and affordable stakes. Learn and improve your game( I still think SSS isnt actual poker), and then go to the casino, properly rolled and win.

Easy to say, not so easy to do. People actually dont get it, when you are sitting there for HOURS, its actually impossible to pay attention to every little detail.You dont do it on the internet neither.About the mistakes, thats what i was talking about when having an idea of whats happening. I actually was listening to relaxing music with only 1 headphone, like that i could pay attention and not be bored to death in the same time.

I really should have quoted from my previous thread hehe, but I'm partly playing for entertainment of just sitting around the table. There are only 3 low limit poker rooms in all of ontario, one which is near my parents house (where I am for the summer). I probably won't be back in a few years, so I do want to play around the table haha. If I walk out with a few blinds less that I came in with, I'll still have had a good night...

@backcushion - I can understand that it doesn't matter if you lose a little if you have a good time. You can't say it isn't valuing your time to lose money, you would pay money to watch a movie. That's for you to have some enjoyment.

brian, maybe you should learn some fixed limit or BSS to stop this being so boring. If they are so fishy you should still win something?

@Chazza: unfortunately they don't have FL at this casino... I'd love to play BSS, but I'm not even close to being properly rolled for NL200. Although it wouldn't bother me too much if I lost it since it is partially entertainment.

@backcushion: How can you say I don't value my time? Are you saying that everything you do in life is geared towards work and never towards having fun? Have you never been to the movies or gone to an amusement park? For me this is going to be an exciting experience of playing live. But because I'm good at poker it'll also be a chance to win a little bit of money. Or if not I'll have paid $80 for a good night out (2 buy-ins).

Well my point is that you will be playing 1 hand in hour max probably,and MAYBE it will double you up or maybe it will make you reload,so to play like 10 hands you have to sit in casino for 10 hours..And sometimes you just loose 5 buyins straight,or more,with your premium holdings.So to make bankroll,you need to sit there hundreds of hours.

You can try,but in my opinion it's waste of time,it's better to grind bankroll online,practise BSS ,then go to the fish paradise.

I understand that it's not easy, but for me it is a process like speed reading. You learn to go through a book 3 or 4 times until your brain de-scrambles all the information. I'm not saying that you will be able to grasp every detail from the first time, but eventually (with years) you will be subconsciously trained to do it.

Also, I don't think you should get bored by the slow pace of live play. I "play" in every single hand, even if I folded pre-flop. I am watching everyone's movements, reactions, timing, listen to the intensity of their voice and try to memorize their cards if shown and how were they played in the situation. Then I try to assign a profile for everyone of them, refining it hand after hand. Of course, good opponents will switch gears to keep you off-balance, so you have to keep updating the profiles with every hand.

One thing I wasn't fond of was using sunglasses, but I've changed my mind. You can watch the opponents without being obvious that you're paying attention to them. I suggest polarized sunglasses, as the cheap ones will give you a headache after a while.
